Abstract

The article presents a research regarding the effect of insulin resistance (IR) on sustained virologic response (SVR) in human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV)/hepatitis C virus (HCV) patients treated with interferon plus ribavirin. The study utilizes on-treatment (OT) and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Findings of the study show that IR is a significant factor of SVR in HIV/HCV-coinfected patients treated with interferon plus rebavirin.

Abstract

The article offers information on the lipid and apoprotein profile in HIV-I infected patients after twelve months on treatment interruption (TI). A study was conducted to determine the metabolic abnormalities and cytokine derangements in HIV-I infected patients. The result of the study revealed that lipid profile and apoproteins levels vary depending on atherogenic profile after TI.

A cross-sectional study identifying the profile of several immunologic parameters in 143 children on HAART for more than 24 weeks.
