The article discusses a study documenting cardiovascular (CV) events over one year in outpatients diagnosed with atherothrombosis. The Reduction of Atherothrombosis for Continued Health (REACH) Registry was established with almost 70,000 patients with atherosclerotic arterial disease (AAD) or at least three risk factors for atherothrombosis in 2003-2004. The study found that outpatients with or at risk for AAD had relatively high annual CV event rates. The author believes that continued efforts are needed to improve secondary prevention and clinical outcomes.
