A large section of written documents remaining from Buddhist Uighurs relies on translations from Chinese, Tibetan, Tohar, Sogdian and the Sanskrit language. Even though the preserved works are characteristic translations, they excel in expressing Buddhist concepts, which are difficult to understand, in Uighur. They used in expressing these concepts they used existing available resources and borrowings from foreign languages as well as derived new words. The word yilvi, elaborated in this paper, is one of the words created in the Uighur period. Pronunciation and etymology of the Uighur word yilvi wasn't done correctly up till now. In this paper, suggestions about yilvi will be discussed and trial etymology of this word presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
