To help related operators to allocate and dispatch the number of bike-sharing and provide good guidance for setting up electronic fences, this paper proposes a spatiotemporal graph convolution network prediction model (SGCNPM) with multiple factors to enhance the accuracy of predicting the demand for bike-sharing. First, we consider time, built environment, and weather. We use a multigraph convolution network (GCN) to model the built environment, utilize a long short-term memory (LSTM) network to extract temporal features, and utilize a fully connected network (FCN) to model weather influence. We construct SGCNPM which can effectively fuse GCN, LSTM, and FCN, thus creating a prediction method considering the influence of multiple factors. The results of the real case in Tianjin, China, show that the proposed model can perform well in improving prediction accuracy. To address the issues of insufficient danger excavation and long data collection period in traditional traffic risk assessment methods, this paper proposes a risk assessment method based on driver's improper driving behavior and abnormal vehicle state warning data. Meanwhile, this paper analyses the built environment's impact on traffic risk using the spatial econometric model. Firstly, a risk assessment system with the relative incidence of driver's improper driving behavior (eye closure, yawn, and looking away) and abnormal vehicle state (rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration, and lane departure) warnings as assessment indicators is constructed. Then, the risk responsibility weights of each warning type were determined using the entropy weight method. The risk classification thresholds were determined based on the Gaussian Mixture Model algorithm. Finally, a spatial econometric model was used to quantify the impact of built environment factors characterized by Point of Interest (POI) data on regional traffic risk, with the results of risk class classification as the dependent variable. The data of bus vehicle warnings in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, are employed as an example for validation. The geographic cell of 1 km × 1 km scale is applied as the basic risk assessment unit. The results show that the optimal risk classification threshold for road traffic risk levels I and II is 1.92, the accuracy rate of class classification is 79.3%; the optimal risk classification threshold for levels II and III is 0.75, and the accuracy rate of class classification is 83.4%. The number of residential areas, Point of Interest (POI) mixing degree, and bus stops were significantly and positively correlated with transit traffic risk. Driven by the emission peak and carbon neutrality targets, traditional cruising taxis are also under pressure to reduce emissions, and reducing taxi vacant time is an effective way to reduce emissions. This paper aims to examine the influence mechanism of built environment characteristics on vacant time of taxi trips from the supply-side perspective. To do so, the study uses a one week of taxi trajectory data of 2019 provided by a taxi company in Chongqing, a megacity in China. We take the divided square grid cell as the study units, calculate the taxi vacant time of 168 (7 × 24) hourly slots for each grid, and then calculate the built environment indicators of the grids with Point of Interest (POI) and vector road network data. A generalized additive model (GAM) based on panel data is constructed to investigate the influence mechanism of built environment on taxi vacant time. The results show that the time-varying trend of taxi vacant time is opposite to the time-varying trend of taxi trips and is similar to taxi trips in spatial distribution with significant spatial dependence. Taxi vacant time is negatively correlated with taxi trips. POI mixture, the number of enterprises, governmental agencies, and shopping services are negatively correlated with vacant time, while the number of sports and leisure services, hotel services, healthcare services, financial and insurance services, and living services are positively correlated with vacant time. An interesting finding is that metro stations significantly increase the vacant taxi time in the region. Average traffic flow speed, road density, the number of bus stops, catering services, residence communities, and motor vehicle services show strong nonlinear relationships with taxi vacant time, and their influence effects are alternately positive and negative. The study provides useful insights for understanding mechanisms of the role of built environment on taxi vacant time and has important implications for driver searching strategy improvement, taxi management measures development, spatial and temporal scheduling of taxi capacity resources, and urban transportation facilities layout planning. It is very common that taxi is used as a feeder mode to/from a metro station especially in third-tier cities of China. But research on taxi-metro integrated use is rather limited. This paper investigates the relationship between feeder-related built environment and taxi-metro integrated use by using taxi trajectory data in Lanzhou, China. Firstly, regression models are developed to explore the transfer distance of access/egress trips during peak hours. Then, the catchment area is delineated for collecting feeder-related environment variables. Finally, several negative binomial regressions are employed to examine the relationships between feeder-related built environment and taxi-metro integrated use during peak hours on weekdays. The results reveal that (a) people prefer to use taxi as feeder mode for metro access during morning peak hours and for metro egress during evening peak hours; (b) the transfer distance of taxi-metro integrated use is about 3.8 km; (c) higher mixed land use generates more taxi-metro integrated use during evening peak hours. Higher proportion of residential land use attracts more taxi-metro integrated use for metro access during morning peak hours. As a sustainable mode of transportation, subways bring great convenience to the society. Although there have been many studies examining the relationship between the built environment and the station-level ridership, those studies focused mainly on the ridership, which is defined as the number of trips for each station. While ridership is an important indicator for evaluating subway demand, passenger-distance is another critical indicator that incorporates distance into demand evaluation, which has not yet been fully explored. To fill this gap, this paper investigates the relationship between the built environment around stations and the station-level passenger-distance (SLPD). As noted in previous studies, the relationship between the built environment and travel demand can vary by space. Therefore, a geographically weighted regression (GWR) model and a mixed geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model have been used to explore this spatially varying relationship using Chengdu, China, as an example case. The results were compared with that of an ordinary least squares (OLS) model. The comparison shows that the MGWR model that considers both global and local variables has the best goodness of fit. Results also show that 11 of the 25 potential variables are significantly related to SLPD. The accessibility of the station, station type, such as transfer or terminal, number of bus stops, number of restaurants, density of building area, density of the national road network, and density of the provincial road network, all have a positive correlation with SLPD. Meanwhile, the variables, whether it is a newly opened subway station, density of living points of interest (POIs), and density of railroad network, are all negatively correlated with SLPD. Ten of the eleven significant variables (except accessibility) have spatially varying relationships with SLPD. The metro has developed rapidly in the past two decades and has become one of the crucial patterns of transportation for urban residents in China. Many studies have explored the factors affecting metro ridership, but few have focused on the metro usage of specific groups, such as the elderly and students. This paper uses the negative binomial regression model to explore the relationship between the built environment and the metro ridership of three types of people (adults, the elderly, and students) by using the metro smart card data of Qingdao. We also used the fractional response model to discuss the factors that influence the ridership share for the elderly and students. The results show that most variables promote the metro usage of the three groups of people but have a significantly different effect on the market share of those groups. Specifically, the number of schools, hospitals, supermarkets, squares, parks, and scenic spots near metro stations significantly increases the proportion of the elderly metro usage. The number of bus stops and schools substantially increases the share of metro ridership by students. The research results can provide valuable insights for promoting the metro's overall ridership and minimizing the gap in allocating public transport resources among different groups. Transit-oriented development is described as a geographic unit with multicircle structures. Most studies have analysed the impact of the built environment within station catchment areas on metro passenger flows from a macro perspective and have lacked analysis of the circle heterogeneity. Few relevant studies have independently investigated the impact of the built environment on the passenger flow in each circle and indeed neglected the systematic interaction between inner circles and circles in the TOD area. In this study, the 800 m buffer from the station was equally divided into four circles. Based on the gravity model, the representative built environment features around the metro stations on both sides were extracted using the block attention module (BAM). Subsequently, Shapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) was used to explore the influence of different built environment variables on passenger flow at each circle between the origin and destination stations. The results indicate the following: (1) the station-to-station passenger flow is significantly affected by the availability of transfers and the distance between the origin and destination stations; (2) the impact of different built environments on ridership significantly varies within different circles; and (3) the built environment has a similar impact on average daily passenger flow on both sides. The study aims to examine the impact of the built environment and weather conditions on travel time for bus passengers in Weinan, China. Various sources of data, including smart card data, bus GPS data, bus station data, road information data, and smart card swiping time, were integrated and analyzed. The study employed the light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM) model and SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) value to assess the feature importance and nonlinear effects of different types of POI density, weather conditions, and time series on bus passengers' travel time. The study findings indicate that several factors are associated with bus passengers' travel time, including destination residential density, destination diversity, destination life service density, origin science and education density, origin residential density, origin diversity, humidity, visibility, boarding time between 7 and 8 a.m., and precipitation. This study also reveals nonlinear threshold effects. The study findings provide valuable insights that can be utilized to optimize the bus network and develop low-carbon-oriented land-use planning. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the global restaurant business hard, especially dine-in. However, it has also provided opportunities for online dining, with takeout becoming a fulcrum for the economic resilience of the urban restaurant industry. Currently, research on the factors affecting takeout order demand under the pandemic has been inadequate. Therefore, this study uses multisource data from Nanjing to explore the changes in takeout order demand as the pandemic develops. And based on the Light gradient boosting machine (Light GBM) model, the nonlinear relationship between the built environment and order demand under different periods of pandemic is investigated, and the important factors affecting the demand are obtained. The results show that daily orders on average during COVID-19 decline by 25.6% than before COVID-19, while during the stabilization phase of the pandemic, they are 20.0% higher than before COVID-19. According to the relative importance ranking of factors in the model, land use diversity and road design influence takeout the most and the crucial influencing factors vary across pandemic periods. In the postpandemic era, special attention needs to be paid to the impact of the number of restaurants, colleges, offices, and main roads on takeout services. In addition, the thresholds of key built environment factors through partial dependency plots can enhance operators' understanding of takeout services and provide suggestions for the spatial layout of takeout resources. The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had a significant impact on transportation. Understanding how the epidemic in China has affected people's travel mode choices can help city managers analyze the travel mode of different populations in the postepidemic phase. Based on a travel behavior questionnaire conducted in Guangzhou, China, during the COVID-19 epidemic and points-of-interest data, this study explored the impact of the built environment, travel characteristics, and socioeconomic factors on changes in commuters' travel modes during the postepidemic phase. We found that gender, age, occupation, the decline in the rate of travel frequency, and built environment characteristics significantly influenced the change in travel mode. When respondents had to give up public transport, those in different professions had different options for alternative means of transportation. The density of residential facilities, bus stations, and government institutions had a more significant impact on the change in the travel mode of commuters. The research results provide a theoretical basis for policy and practice. After the outbreak of a major public health event, urban transport managers and policymakers should consider individual heterogeneity and environmental factors when formulating strategies to address public travel in unconventional situations. The goal of the current study is to identify and quantify the influence of various contributing factors on dockless e-scooter demand. Drawing on high-resolution e-scooter trip level data for 2019 from Austin, Texas, we develop census tract (CT) level demand data for four time periods of the day. The time-period specific data is partitioned for weekdays and weekends. Using the prepared datasets, we develop a joint panel linear regression (JPLR) model framework that accommodates for the influence of unobserved factors at multiple levels-CT, month, day, and time period levels. The analysis results indicate that the proposed JPLR models outperform the independent linear regression models for both weekdays and weekends. The results also manifest a significant association between e-scooter demand and several independent variables including sociodemographic attributes, transportation infrastructure variables, land use and built environment variables, meteorological attributes, and situational attributes. Further, several panel-specific correlation effects are found to be significant across four dimensions highlighting the importance of accommodating the influence of common unobserved factors on e-scooter demand across different time-of-day dimensions. The model validation exercise results revealed that the proposed models performed well compared to the independent models. Finally, the estimated models are employed to conduct a policy exercise illustrating the value of the estimated models for understanding CT level e-scooter demand on weekdays and weekends. Many studies provided evidence regarding the influence of built environment (BE) on commuting time. However, few studies have considered the spatial heterogeneity of such impacts. Using data from Nanjing, China, this study employs two-step clustering and gradient boosted regression trees (GBRT) to segment the neighborhoods into different types and investigate the effects of BE characteristics on the commuting time of active users. The results show a strong effect of BE characteristics on commuting time, involving active modes. The importance of BE characteristics varies among neighborhood types. For active commuters in the internal region of Nanjing, commuting time is affected mostly by the land use mix at the work end. The lowest impact of BE in internal regions is associated with metro station density. For active commuters in external region of the city, the relative importance of intersection density at the home end is the largest (as high as 5.76%). Bike-sharing holds promise for available and healthy mobility services during COVID-19 where bike sharing users can make trips with lower health concerns due to social distancing compared to the restricted transportation modes such as public transit and ridesharing services. Leveraging the trip data of the Divvy bike-sharing system in Chicago, this study exploresspatially heterogeneous effects of built environment on bike-sharing usage under the pandemic. Results show that the average weekly ridership declined by 52.04%. To account for the spatially heterogeneous relationship between the built environment and the ridership, the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model and the semiparametric GWR (S-GWR) model are constructed. We find that the S-GWR model outperforms the GWR and the multiple linear regression models. The results of the S-GWR model indicate that education employment density, distance to subway, COVID-19 cases, and ridership before COVID-19 are global variables. The effects between ridership and the built environment factros (i.e., household density, office employment density, and the ridership) vary across space. The results of this study could provide a useful reference to transportation planners and bike-sharing operators to determine the high bike-sharing demand area under the pandemic,thus adjusting station locations, capacity, and rebalancing schemes accordingly. Spatially aggregated data are prone to the effects of the modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP), which applies to built environments and traffic data. Although various studies have been carried out to explore the impact of built environment factors on traffic systems, few have considered MAUPs, which may result in statistical inconsistency. The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of MAUPs on statistical variables and geographically weighted regression results when evaluating the influence of the built environment on the traffic system state. Fifty sets of spatial configurations were created using the different aggregation criteria. The variance inflation factor and spatial autocorrelation of the variables, as well as the R2 and root mean squared error of the GWR model, were used to assess the MAUP effect. The results show that the index variation is more dependent on the scale of the spatial unit than on zoning type. In the case study presented, based on the available dataset, the optimal spatial unit size for analyzing the influence of the built environment on Jinan's traffic system was 900 m × 900 m. Understanding the determinants of elderly people's public transport usage patterns can offer new insights into elderly mobility issues and provide policy implications for planning toward an aging-friendly and sustainable city. However, few studies have examined the impact of the built environment on the trip time of the elderly using big data. Moreover, the elderly's trip time has been mostly investigated by the multivariate linear regression model (MLR), ignoring the non-linear association between explanatory variables and trip time. Using smart card data from Nanjing in 2019, this study employs a gradient boosting regression trees (GBRT) model to probe into the correlations between the built environment and the elderly's trip time. The results show that significant non-linear relationships exist between trip time and the selected explanatory variables, which cannot be captured by the MLR model. It suggests that relevant policy implementations should be carried out in conjunction with the elderly's travel environment by regarding their threshold effects. Besides, interaction effects of spatial attributes on trip time are identified in our study. For example, elderly people living in the exurban area are more likely to take long-distance metro travel for their physical exercise. These findings demonstrate that planners and policymakers should not only consider one single built-environment factor, but also the interactions of various factors to enhance elderly mobility. The dockless bike-sharing system provides a convenient transfer option for metros, which can solve the "last mile" problem for passengers. However, the quality of bike-sharing transfer services around metro stations and its influencing factors are still unrevealed. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the bike-sharing transfer services for different metro stations considering spatial heterogeneity. First, the transfer ridership of bike-sharing around each metro station is calculated based on the trip data of the Mobike in Shanghai. Then, a geographically weighted regression (GWR) model is used to analyze the relationships between the transfer ridership and built environment features around each metro station. Given the GWR model, a spatially varying benchmark is established to independently evaluate the bike-sharing transfer service of each metro station based on the deviation between the actual transfer ridership and its benchmark. In this case, the metro stations whose actual bike-sharing transfer ridership is below the benchmark are identified as the objects that need to improve their bike-sharing transfer services. The results show that the benchmark derived from the GWR model varies from station to station depending on the metro ridership, population density, and cycleway density around the metro station. In addition, bike-sharing transfer services around metro stations are better in Xuhui District, Minhang District, and Huangpu District, and worse in Pudong District and Qingpu District.
