Summary: This paper presents length‐weight relationships (LWR) for four fish species from the continental shelf of Yucatán, at the Sonda de Campeche (southwestern Gulf of México). Samples were taken using shrimp trawl nets (5.71 cm squared mesh size in the cod‐end) in the mid‐summer of 2016. All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from .946 to .994 and the values of exponent b, estimated using simple linear least squares of log‐transformed weight and length data, ranged from 2.54 to 3.10 (p < .001). The article studies the length-weight relationships (LWR) of deep-sea fish species from the Mexican Pacific Ocean. Least-squared regression of weight as a function of length was calculated after log transformation of the two variables according the formula: logW = loga + blogL, where W is the weight and L is the length of a fish, and a and b are the parameters of the LWR.

The article discusses the data confirming the occurrence of Aluterus monocerus in the northern Pacific shores of Mexico and first occurrence in the Gulf of California. Such data are the first documented and verified records which are supported by a voucher specimen of the unicorn filefish off the coast of the Baja California peninsula.
