The article presents the findings of a study related to reproduction in Mugil (M) curema, focusing on gonadal development and the spawning season. The study was conducted with fresh specimens of M. curema which were collected from artisanal commercial catches. The hepatosomatic index (HSI) and gonadosomatic index (GSI) were used to assess fish condition and relate this condition to reproduction.

The article reports on the occurence of pseudocorynopoma (P) heterandria Eigenmann. Topics discussed include morphometric characteristics of P. heterandria from the Paraiba do Sul River basin, influence of local environmental constraints on morphological divergence in this species, and general morphometric patterns described by Eigenmann.

The present study reports the weight-length relationships of 22 fish species from middle stretches of the Paraíba do Sul River, a riverine system located in the most important economic regions of Brazil and which is under great pressure due to damming and others ventures. Data were collected quarterly in 2010 and 2011 from three reservoirs and the adjoining downstream by using three different mesh sizes of gill nets. This work analyzes the relationship between length and weight for 25 fish species belonging to 15 families in three mixohaline/hypersaline coastal lagoons in Southeastern Brazil. The study presents the first estimation of L- WRs for six species ( Anchoa tricolor, Brevoortia aurea, Jenynsia multidentata, Ctenogobius boleosoma, Microgobius meeki and Bathygobius soporator) and maximum lengths for four species ( Atherinella brasiliensis, Jenynsia multidentata, Poecilia vivipara and Microgobius meeki) that are greater than previously recorded. Length-weight relationships of 23 fish species from the Guaratiba mangrove area in southeastern Brazil were estimated. The value of the parameter b ranged from 2.63 to 3.39 (median = 2.97). This study presents the first estimation of LWR for two species ( Ctenogobius stomatus and Ctenogobius boleosoma). Length-weight relationships were determined for 15 fish species from the tributary Atlantic rain forest steams that drain into Sepetiba Bay, southeastern Brazil. This is the first record of length-weight relationships for 12 of these species and new maximum lengths for four species.
