Let G = (V, E) be a connected simple graph and let M be a nonempty subset of V. The M-distance pattern of a vertex u in G is the set of all distances from u to the vertices in M. If the distance patterns of all vertices in V are distinct, then the set Mis a distance pattern distinguishing set of G. A graph G with a distance pattern distinguishing set is called a distance pattern distinguishing graph. Minimum number of vertices in a distance pattern distinguishing set is called distance pattern distinguishing number of a graph. This paper initiates a study on the problem of finding distance pattern distinguishing number of a graph and gives bounds for distance pattern distinguishing number. Further, this paper provides an algorithm to determine whether a graph is a distance pattern distinguishing graph or not and hence to determine the distance pattern distinguishing number of that graph. Tabu search has become acceptable worldwide as one of the most efficient intelligent searches applied to various real-world problems. There have been different modifications made to the generic tabu search in recent years to achieve better performances. Among those reviewed in the introduction of this paper, the adaptive tabu search (ATS) has incorporated the backtracking and the adaptive search radius mechanisms that help accelerate the search and release it from a local solution lock. The paper explains an enhancement made to the ATS to accomplish multipath ATS (MATS) algorithms. Performances of the ATS and the MATS are evaluated using surface optimization problems, and results are presented in the paper. Graceful labeling is one of the best known labeling methods of graphs. Despite the large number of papers published on the subject of graph labeling, there are few particular techniques to be used by researchers to gracefully label graphs. In this paper, first a new approach based on the mathematical programming technique is presented to model the graceful labeling problem. Then a "branching method" is developed to solve the problem for special classes of graphs. Computational results show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm for different classes of graphs. One of the interesting results of our model is in the class of trees. The largest tree known to be graceful has at most 27 vertices but our model can easily solve the graceful labeling for trees with 40 vertices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper considers the stable set and coloring problems of hypergraphs and presents several new results and algorithms using the semitensor product of matrices. By the definitions of an incidence matrix of a hypergraph and characteristic logical vector of a vertex subset, an equivalent algebraic condition is established for hypergraph stable sets, as well as a new algorithm, which can be used to search all the stable sets of any hypergraph. Then, the vertex coloring problem is investigated, and a necessary and sufficient condition in the form of algebraic inequalities is derived. Furthermore, with an algorithm, all the coloring schemes and minimum coloring partitions with the given q colors can be calculated for any hypergraph. An implementable nonlinear Lagrange algorithm for stochastic minimax problems is presented based on sample average approximation method in this paper, in which the second step minimizes a nonlinear Lagrange function with sample average approximation functions of original functions and the sample average approximation of the Lagrange multiplier is adopted. Under a set of mild assumptions, it is proven that the sequences of solution andmultiplier obtained by the proposed algorithmconverge to the Kuhn-Tucker pair of the original problem with probability one as the sample size increases. Type-2 fuzzy reasoning relations are the type-2 fuzzy relations obtained from a group of type-2 fuzzy reasonings by using extended t- (co)norm, which are essential for implementing type-2 fuzzy logic systems. In this paper an algorithm is provided for constructing type-2 fuzzy reasoning relations of SISO type-2 fuzzy logic systems. First, we give some properties of extended t-(co)norm and simplify the expression of type-2 fuzzy reasoning relations in accordance with different input subdomains under certain conditions. And then different techniques are discussed to solve the simplified expressions on the input subdomains by using the related methods on solving fuzzy relation equations. Besides, it is pointed out that the computation amount level of the proposed algorithm is the same as that of polynomials and the possibility of applying the proposed algorithm in the construction of type-2 fuzzy reasoning relations is illustrated on several examples. The generalized Nash equilibriumproblem(GNEP) is anextensionof the standard Nash equilibrium problem(NEP), inwhich each player's strategy set may depend on the rival player's strategies. In this paper, we present two descent type methods. The algorithms are based on a reformulation of the generalized Nash equilibrium using Nikaido-Isoda function as unconstrained optimization. We prove that our algorithms are globally convergent and the convergence analysis is not based on conditions guaranteeing that every stationary point of the optimization problem is a solution of the GNEP. We propose an explicit iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of fixed points of infinitely many strict pseudocontractive mappings and the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem by the general iterative method, which solves the variational inequality. In the setting of real Hilbert spaces, strong convergence theorems are proved. The results presented in this paper improve and extend the corresponding results reported by some authors recently. The solution of least squares support vector machines (LS-SVMs) is characterized by a specific linear system, that is, a saddle point system. Approaches for its numerical solutions such as conjugate methods Sykens and Vandewalle (1999) and null space methods Chu et al. (2005) have been proposed. To speed up the solution of LS-SVM, this paper employs the minimal residual (MINRES) method to solve the above saddle point system directly. Theoretical analysis indicates that the MINRES method is more efficient than the conjugate gradient method and the null space method for solving the saddle point system. Experiments on benchmark data sets show that compared with mainstream algorithms for LS-SVM, the proposed approach significantly reduces the training time and keeps comparable accuracy. To heel, the LS-SVM based on MINRES method is used to track a practical problem originated from blast furnace iron-making process: changing trend prediction of silicon content in hot metal. We introduce a general iterative algorithm for finding a common element of the common fixedpoint set of an infinite family of ?i-strict pseudocontractions and the solution set of a general system of variational inclusions for two inverse strongly accretive operators in a q-uniformly smooth Banach space. Then, we prove a strong convergence theorem for the iterative sequence generated by the proposed iterative algorithm under very mild conditions. The methods in the paper are novel and different from those in the early and recent literature. It is well known that the gradient-projection algorithm (GPA) is very useful in solving constrained convex minimization problems. In this paper, we combine a general iterative method with the gradient-projection algorithm to propose a hybrid gradient-projection algorithm and prove that the sequence generated by the hybrid gradient-projection algorithm converges in norm to a minimizer of constrained convex minimization problems which solves a variational inequality. This paper deals with an inverse problem for identifying multiparameters in 1D space fractional advection dispersion equation (FADE) on a finite domain with final observations. The parameters to be identified are the fractional order, the diffusion coefficient, and the average velocity in the FADE. The forward problem is solved by a finite difference scheme, and then an optimal perturbation regularization algorithm is introduced to determine the three parameters simultaneously. Numerical inversions are performed both with the accurate data and noisy data, and several factors having influences on realization of the algorithm are discussed. Scheduled production system leads to avoiding stock accumulations, losses reduction, decreasing or even eliminating idol machines, and effort to better benefitting from machines for on time responding customer orders and supplying requested materials in suitable time. In flexible jobshop scheduling production systems, we could reduce time and costs by transferring and delivering operations on existing machines, that is, among NP-hard problems. The scheduling objective minimizes the maximal completion time of all the operations, which is denoted by Makespan. Different methods and algorithms have been presented for solving this problem. Having a reasonable scheduled production system has significant influence on improving effectiveness and attaining to organization goals. In this paper, new algorithm were proposed for flexible jobshop scheduling problem systems (FJSSP-GSPN) that is based on gravitational search algorithm (GSA). In the proposed method, the flexible job-shop scheduling problem systems was modeled by color Petri net and CPN tool and then a scheduled job was programmed by GSA algorithm. Under the condition that the values of mapping F are evaluated approximately, we propose a proximal analytic center cutting plane algorithm for solving variational inequalities. It can be considered as an approximation of the earlier cutting plane method, and the conditions we impose on the corresponding mappings are more relaxed. Recently, Xiao et al. proposed a nonsmooth equations-based method to solve the l₁-norm minimization problem (2011). The advantage of this method is its simplicity and lower storage. In this paper, based on new nonsmooth equations reformulation, we investigate new nonsmooth equations-based algorithms for solving l₁-norm minimization problems. Point pattern matching is an important topic of computer vision and pattern recognition. In this paper, we propose a point pattern matching algorithm for two planar point sets under Euclidean transform. We view a point set as a complete graph, establish the relation between the point set and the complete graph, and solve the point pattern matching problem by finding congruent complete graphs.
