Abstract

A microprobe photoluminescence (PL) technique was employed to determine the thermal resistance and wall-plug efficiency of narrow-ridge interband cascade lasers emitting at 3.8 [mu]m. The data obtained indicated a vertical thermal conductivity of ~5.5 W/m K for the SL cladding layer and a maximum wall-plug efficiency of 8.1%.
