The synthesis of TiO2 thin films using thermal oxidation of sputtered Ti films is describes and its optical properties are investigated.

The replacement of strontium ions by potassium ions in (Sr(1-x)K(2x))Zr4(PO4)6 ceramics produces low thermal conductivity. The low thermal conductivity is due to the development of a large amount of oxygen vacancy and lattice imperfection.

Experimental methods analyzing the thermal diffusivity conductivity of duophase SiAlON ceramics indicate a value of 12.44 and 8.16 W per m K for thermal conductivity of the single phase beta and alpha-SiALON ceramics, respectively. Theoretical studies and the values obtained by Bruggeman's variable dispersion theory confirm these data. An increase in alpha phase content reduces the thermal conductivity, which depends on temperature. This temperature dependence differs with the contents of alpha and beta phases.
