Abstract

Research was conducted to study the interaction of ultrasonic acoustic transducers with cylindrical shells in pitch-catch mode using a two-dimensional theoretical model. The transmitter and receiver were characterized by a complex-transducer-joint method to simulate emitting and receiving electro-acoustic transducers with Gaussian profiles. Results identified the wave phenomenology responsible for producing scattered field data.
