Density and viscosity for binary mixtures of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DEGMBE) with monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA) have been measured as a function of composition from (293.15 to 333.15) K at intervals of 10 K under ambient pressure. Densities were measured with a capillary pycnometer. Viscosities were determined using capillary viscometers of the Ubbelohde type. Excess molar volumes VE and viscosity deviations Δη were calculated from the experimental results and correlated by the Redlich–Kister type equations to derive the coefficients and standard deviations. The values of VE and Δη are both negative over the entire range of mole fraction which indicates that molecular interaction of MEA, DEA, and TEA through the hydrogen bond become weaker in the presence of DEGMBE.

The adsorption isotherm data of light hydrocarbons (C5's–C7’s, pentane, hexane, and heptane), which are the main composition of gasoline vapor, onto hydrophobic hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbent (HY-1) were measured at temperatures ranging from (293 to 323) K and pressures up to 60 kPa and compared with granular activated carbon (NucharWV-A 1100). The experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Astakhov (DA) equations, respectively. The DA isotherms correlated with the experimental data within 1.85 % root-mean-square deviation (rmsd) and presented a better fitting than Langmuir and Freundlich equations. The experimental results indicated that HY-1 had good adsorption capacities for three hydrocarbon VOCs, which were about 85 % of those of NucharWV-A 1100. Solubilities of nonanedioic acid in binary ethanol + water solvent mixtures have been determined by the dynamic method using a laser monitoring observation technique over a temperature range from (292.35 to 345.52) K and a solvent composition, mole fraction of ethanol of solute-free x20, range from 0.0 to 1.0. The experimental results showed that in pure water the solubility of nonanedioic acid increased slowly with temperature below 342.77 K but increased significantly above 342.77 K. The nonanedioic acid + ethanol + water system was found to exhibit a synergistic effect on solubility. The fusion enthalpy and melting temperature of nonanedioic acid were measured by differential scanning calorimetry. The modified λh equation, the Wilson equation, and the NRTL equation have been applied to correlate a subset of the experimental data. These models can successfully describe the solubility of nonanedioic acid in the binary mixtures with an ethanol mole fraction higher or equal to 0.2811.

The solubilities of sebacic acid in mixed solvents n-propanol + water have been measured by a dynamic method using a laser monitoring observation technique over a temperature range (288 to 351) K. A synergistic effect on solubility was found to occur in sebacic acid + n-propanol + water mixed systems. To detect the synergistic effect, solubilities of sebacic acid in 14.35 %, 36.97 %, 79.81 %, and 90.00 % mole fraction ethanol aqueous solution were determined to supplement our previous report. A weak synergistic effect was found for sebacic acid + ethanol + water mixed systems. The solid−liquid equilibrium (SLE) data have been fitted using the λh equation, the Wilson equation, and the NRTL equation. The comparison between the experimental and the calculated solubilities for the three models is reasonable, and the root-mean-square deviations for each system range from (0.30 to 1.95) K.

Using a static equilibrium method, the solubilities of sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfamethoxydiazine, sulfamonomethoxine, sulfamethoxazole, and sulfachloropyrazine in water have been determined experimentally from (298.15 to 333.15) K. As one of the promising alternative refrigerants to replace R-502 [R-22 + R-115 (x R-22 = 0.63, where x denotes mole fraction)], the gas-phase thermodynamic properties of the ternary mixture R-32 (difluoromethane) (1) + R-125 (pentafluoroethane) (2) + R-143a (1,1,1-trifluoroethane) (3) have been studied. A total of 220 gas-phase PVTx properties for the present ternary system, R-32 + R-125 + R-143a, was obtained at four different compositions, (x 1 = 0.174, x 2 = 0.340), (x 1 = 0.313, x 2 = 0.203), (x 1 = 0.343, x 2 = 0.445), and (xi = 0.484, x 2 = 0.216), by using the Burnett apparatus. The present measurements range widely in temperature (305 to 380) K, pressure up to 4.6 MPa, and density up to 200 kg.m -3 . The uncertainties of the present study are estimated to be within 7 mK in temperature, (0.8 to 2.5) kPa in pressure, 0.15% in density, and 0.1 mol % in composition. The second and third virial coefficients for the mixtures, B m and C m , were also obtained from the present isothermal PVTx data. The consistency of the present measurements was confirmed by comparing them with the virial equation of state for the mixture of interest developed by the present authors and REFPROP. An excellent agreement between the present measurements and those models was confirmed to be within ±0.4% for pressure and ±0.1% for the mixture second virial coefficients.

Solubilities of sebacic acid in binary ethanol + water solvent mixtures were measured by the dynamic method using a laser monitoring observation technique at a temperature range from (288 to 352) K. The mole fraction of ethanol in the solvent mixtures ranges from 0 to 1. The melting temperature and enthalpy of fusion of sebacic acid were determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The experimental results show that the slope of the solubility−temperature curve increases significantly with an increase in the mole fraction of ethanol in the solvent. The Wilson equation is applied to describe measured systems. The model parameters of the Wilson equation were expressed as a function of temperature.

We present new PVT measurements in the gas phase for difluoromethane (R-32) + pentafluoroethane (R-125) mixtures at 0.5001 (30.24 mass %) and 0.6977 (50.01 mass %) mole fractions of difluoromethane (R-32). The measurements were performed with a Burnett apparatus, and the expanded uncertainties of the measurements with a level of confidence of approximately 99% were estimated to be ±0.8 kPa for pressure, ±8 mK for temperature, ±0.15% for density, and ±0.1 mol % for composition. The PVT properties of pure R-32 and R-125, which were obtained from the reanalysis of earlier Burnett measurements for R-32 and R-125 at our laboratory, are also presented in this paper. A virial-type equation of state for the R-32 + 125 system has been developed on the basis of the present measurements and other experimental data; this equation reproduces the experimental data in the gas phase within ±0.3% in pressure.

The authors present new vapor pressure measurements for 1,1,1,2,3,3-hexafluoropropane (R-236ea) in the temperature range from 300 to 410 K. The measurements were performed with a static technique, and the uncertainties of the measurements were estimated to be within {+-}0.6 kPa for pressure and within {+-}8 mK for temperature. A Wagner-type vapor pressure correlation was developed to represent the measured vapor pressures, and the critical pressure was determined as (3,411.6 {+-} 3.0) kPa corresponding to the critical temperature of 412.375 K. The purity of the R-236ea sample used in the present measurements was 99.9 mol %. The effect of the volatile impurity in the sample on the vapor pressure measurements is discussed and corrected.

The PVT properties of 1,1,1-trifluoroethane (R-143a) in the gas phase have been measured by a Burnett apparatus in the range of temperatures from 320 to 380 K and at pressures up to 6 MPa. The vapor pressures in the range of temperatures from 295 to 342 K have also been measured, and a vapor-pressure correlation has been developed. The critical pressure was determined to be (3.776 {+-} 0.005) MPa on the basis of the present measurements. The second virial coefficients have been determined along seven isotherms, and a truncated virial equation of state has also been developed to represent the temperature dependence of the second virial coefficients and the present Burnett PVT measurements. The experimental uncertainties of temperature, pressure, density, and second virial coefficient throughout the present study were estimated to be no more than {+-} 8 mK, {+-} 0.8 kPa, {+-} 0.12%, and {+-} 5%, respectively. The purity of the R-143a sample used was better than 99.95 mol %.
