Natal teeth are infrequent at birth. Dental extraction is the most recommended treatment to avoid complications. Reactive soft tissue lesions associated to natal tooth or its incomplete removal are rare. A five-month-old female presented natal teeth #71 and #81 which were removed the day after the birth. The baby evolved with two nodules in the region of #71 and #81, pedunculated, 10 and 9 mm, respectively, covered by a pink mucosa, firm in consistency. Periapical radiography showed two radiopaque areas, suggestive of root fragments. After 30 days the nodule located in the region of #81 became purple in color and ulcerated. Both lesions were removed with high intensity diode laser. Histopathological analysis was compatible with inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia (#71) and pyogenic granuloma (#81). Early diagnosis of oral lesions in newborns by means of histopathological examination and a minimum invasive treatment, such as laser surgery, should be of primary concern.

Background: Eruption of first primary tooth starts on an average at around six to seven months of age. Presence of teeth at birth or within a month after birth is considered rare. Natal teeth are those present in the oral cavity at the time of birth. These teeth can cause ulcers on the ventral surface of the tongue, lip, and the mother's breast characterizing the Riga Fede Disease. Exact aetiology of natal and neonatal teeth is still unclear. The treatment depends on its mobility of teeth as it is associated with the risk of aspiration or swallowing, whether the natal tooth is supernumerary or primary, causing any problems in breast feeding, presence of soft tissue injuries on tongue of the child or mother's breast and overall health of child. Case presentation: A fifteen day old girl reported with large ulceration on ventral surface of tongue due to sharp natal teeth present at mandibular anterior region which was also associated with feeding difficulties. Along with Riga Fede disease Syndactyly and Oligodactyly in left and right legs respectively was also observed. Extraction of the teeth has been carried out and complete healing of ulceration has been achieved within 30 days. Conclusion: The present case report describes a rare occurrence of Riga Fede disease with Syndactyly and Oligodactyly and highlights its symptomatology and therapeutic approach.

The term "neonatal teeth" is applied to those teeth which erupt within the first 30 days of life. Case of a fifteen day old infant is presented here with a neonatal tooth that led to serious complications. An attempt has been made to highlight that these predeciduous teeth can sometimes lead to dangerous consequences about which the general dentist must be aware of and must take prompt action.

Eruption disturbances can be broadly classified as disturbances related to time and disturbances related to position. Time related disturbances include premature eruption, delayed eruption or impactions. A common feature of these is a significant deviation in eruption time within the established norms for a particular age, sex, race or ethnicity. Although root development represents the fundamental biologic parameter for tooth eruption, chronological age at presentation is used as the first criteria in the establishment of the diagnosis of prematurity or a delay in eruption. Eruption disturbances related to position include ectopic eruption and transpositions. Positional deviations too can cause a delay in eruption time, however more commonly the involved tooth erupts within the expected time frame with an abnormality in position. The focus of this paper is to present a systematic review of the literature including classification, etiology and treatment modalities available for eruption disturbances of the maxillary incisors.

A variety of gingival enlargements can occur in children, but they are rarely observed in the infant. The aim of this study is to present a case of a ten-month old male patient, with an anterior mandibular hamartoma associated to natal teeth, and to describe the clinical and histological characteristics of this anomaly and the treatment performed.

The natal teeth are defined as the presence of teeth at birth and the etiology is rather obscure. Clinically, the teeth show normal size and shape, although they reveal an immature appearance. The histological aspect show enamel with the possibility of presenting normal mineralization or being hypoplastic. The dentin may show alterations. The incidence of natal teeth varies greatly, with a predisposition for the female sex. This paper relates a case report of two partially erupted natal teeth in a female baby 9 days-old. The presence of teeth made the parents anxious. In their mind, that meant the child was abnormal. On the radiograph the erupted teeth showed little radio-opacity, without a radicular formation. The therapy utilized was the keeping of the teeth and a periodic monitoring, cleaning and daily topical applications sodium fluoride. The case was monitored by monthly consultations. At 9 months of age the primary central lower did not present mobility. On the radiograph examination incomplete radicular formation was observed.
