Abstract
This article studies attraction to psychotherapy. Therapist-patient similarities are directly related to psychotherapy outcome in many diverse areas such as social class, values, and compatibility of orientation to interpersonal relations. Although substantial differences exist in values and attitudes between people of varying age groups and in the psychiatric treatment of patients in relation to chronological age, few investigations have focused on the potential influence of therapist-patient age similarity on the psychotherapy relationship.
