Although nickel–cobalt bimetallic sulfides have been widely studied for supercapacitor electrodes, how to obtain high specific capacity and cycle stability is still an important challenge. Here, an efficient chemical redox method is used to adjust the crystal and electronic structure of cobalt–nickel sulfide (NCS) via B doping, combined with electrospinning technology and conductive polymer polypyrrole (PPy) coating to facilitate faraday redox reactions and obtain high energy density electrode materials. The resulting composite with boron-doped nickel–cobalt sulfide on electrospinned carbon nanofibers with polypyrrole-coating (PPy@B-NCS/CNF) has a high specific capacity (751.61C/g at 1 A/g) and good cycle stability (82.49 % retention after 4000 cycles at 5 A/g). With PPy@B-NCS/CNF as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) is prepared. It has excellent electrochemical properties with a power density of 65.58 Wh kg−1 and an energy density of 819.72 W kg−1. The low-temperature performance test shows high reversibility, which provides the possibility for the development of low-temperature electrolytes. [Display omitted] We synthesized herein a novel 3D cathode constructed by growing cobalt diselenide in situ on the surface of carbon nanofiber for hydrogen evolution reaction. The cobalt diselenides with two typical morphologies (agaric-like and nanorod-like) were synthesized by precisely controlling reaction time and temperature in the same system. They show excellent electrocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution reactions. Especially, the agaric-like diselenide cobalt electrode has the low overpotential (187 and 199 mV) to obtain the current density of 50 and 100 mA cm−2 with a small Tafel slope of 37 mV dec−1 in acidic medium. The excellent catalytic performance of the agaric-like cobalt diselenide can be attributed to its large specific surface area and fast electron transfer rate. More importantly, the agaric-like cobalt diselenide supported carbon nanofiber electrode has excellent long-term stability in electrolyte. The outstanding electrocatalytic performance and stability of agaric-like cobalt diselenide supported carbon nanofiber indicate that it is a promising electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reactions. A unique cobalt polysulfide/carbon nanofibers (C, N -Co x S y /CNF) film derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework is first prepared by a facile strategy. The hierarchical structure material is compose of CoS, CoS 2 , Co 9 S 8 , N -doped carbon nanosheets, and carbon nanofibers. The C, N -Co x S y /CNF electrode displays high specific capacitance and good rate performance due to the synergistic effect of cobalt polysulfide and carbon nanofibers. An asymmetric supercapacitor based on C, N -Co x S y /CNF and AC electrodes is assembled and exhibits high energy density and power density. In this article, a novel cobalt polysulfide/carbon nanofibers (C, N -Co x S y /CNF) film derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework is first prepared by a facile strategy. The composite material with two-dimensional leaf-shaped nanoarray neatly grown on the surface of carbon nanofibers is composed of CoS, CoS 2 , Co 9 S 8 , N -doped carbon nanosheets, and carbon nanofibers. It is found that the composite can not only increase the contact area with the electrolyte but also provide abundant redox-active sites and a Faraday capacitance for the entire electrode. The C, N -Co x S y /CNF composite exhibits excellent electrochemical properties, including a high capacity of up to 1080F g -1 at 1 A g -1 and a good rate capability (80.4 % from 1 A g -1 to 10 A g -1). A C, N -Co x S y /CNF//AC asymmetric supercapacitor device is assembled using C, N -Co x S y /CNF as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, showing high energy density (37.29 Wh kg -1@813.6 W kg -1) and good cycle stability (90.5% of initial specific capacitance at 10 g−1 after 5000 cycles). A method for phase and electronic modulation of highly dispersed WC X nanoparticles through Ni coupling has been developed, which shows enhanced electrocatalytic OER performance. Exploring efficient, stable, and earth-abundant electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is of great significance for clean and renewable energy conversion technologies. In this work, in situ uniform Ni-doped tungsten carbide (Ni/WC X) nanoparticles (~3 nm) on carbon nanofibers (Ni/WC X -CNFs) that were to function as efficient OER catalysts were developed. Both the composition and electronic state of tungsten carbide (WC X : W-WC-W 2 C) could be regulated through varied Ni coupling. Owing to the synergistic effect between Ni and WC X , the reaction kinetics were facilitated, resulting in improved OER activity with low overpotentials of η 10 = 350 mV (modified glassy carbon electrode) and η 10 = 335 mV (self-supporting electrode).
