This article focuses on the "Crossing Borders: Regional and Urban Perspectives on International Migration," edited by Cees Gorter, Peter Nijkamp and Jacques Poot. In this book fourteen papers, most resulting from an international workshop held in December 1995 at the Tinbergen Institute in Amsterdam, investigate the regional and urban dimensions of cross-border migration. Papers discuss migration, economic integration and regional growth, the welfare effects of immigration in the presence of public goods, the impact of immigration on labor markets and urban infrastructure in Australia and New Zealand, polarization and urban policies in Amsterdam, socioeconomic implications of the changing spatial distribution and labor market
