BACKGROUND AND AIM: Posttraumatic growth following traumas such as chronic illnesses can occur in some people. The psychological factors, such as cognitive emotion regulation (CER), can influence its formation. CER is a type of coping strategy that helps to efficiently deal with trauma. Due to the importance of the topic and the lack of sufficient studies on posttraumatic growth and CER in hemodialysis patients, this study aims to investigate the relationship between posttraumatic growth and CER in hemodialysis patients. METHODS: This is a descriptive study performed on hemodialysis patients in Bou Ali and Velayat hospitals in Qazvin. One hundred and sixty-two patients were selected by the convenience sampling method, and Garnefski Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (α =0.92) and Tedeschi Posttraumatic Growth Questionnaire (α =0.96) were used. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and ANOVA tests. RESULTS: The results showed that the majority of the hemodialysis patients experienced some degree of posttraumatic growth. The participants achieved high scores in the domains of spiritual development and communication with others. Moreover, posttraumatic growth was positively and significantly correlated with CER (r = 0.67, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Hemodialysis provides the basis for the positive mental reactions known as posttraumatic growth in hemodialysis patients. Nurses and other authorities can use this phenomenon to adapt to illness and care planning.

INTRODUCTION: Mental health is one of the focuses of the health assessment of different communities and plays an important role in ensuring the dynamism and efficiency of each community. Pregnancy is one of the most sensitive periods, in which mental health is effective. The mental health of individuals is the result of the interaction of cognitive-emotional ordering strategies and proper evaluation of stressful situations. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation and the health of pregnant women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study that was carried out on 200 pregnant women who were covered by Navab, Amir Hamzeh and Motahari centers in Isfahan in 2017 by available sampling method. The instrument was the Beck Depression Inventory, Goldenberg Health, and Emotional Cognitive Order. Finally, the data were analyzed using the SPSS software. RESULTS: The mean age of pregnant mothers participating in the study was 26.66 ± 6.09 years. The results of data analysis showed a significant positive correlation in relation to blaming others and disaster with physical health, blaming others and rumination and catastrophes with anxiety, disaster with social health, blaming others and rumination and catastrophes with depression, and also blaming others and rumination, catastrophizing, and positive re-focusing have a significant positive correlation with total health score. CONCLUSION: Regarding the relationship between mental health and cognitive dysmenorrhea during pregnancy, pregnant women carers can help with pregnant women by conducting educational programs on health promotion and strive to maintain mental health and improve their quality of life. Consequently, they will ensure the mental health of their future children.

Background: Midwifery services help maintain and improve the health of the community. However, a comprehensive examination reduces students' psychological well-being by creating anxiety. For this purpose, the present study was conducted to determine and compare the effect of two educational methods based on mindfulness and cognitive emotion strategies on psychological well-being and anxiety of eighth-semester midwifery students before the final clinical trial., Materials and Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental three-group study with available sampling method that was performed on 30 eighth-semester midwifery students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in 2020-2021. Data collection tools were psychological well-being and Test Anxiety Questionnaire. Two intervention groups were trained for eight sessions. The control group did not receive any training program. The data collected by SPSS version 22 software were analyzed by analytical statistical tests of ANOVA and least significant difference post hoc test., Results: The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the three groups in terms of components of test anxiety and psychological well-being. Furthermore, emotion regulation training and mindfulness-based training reduced test anxiety and increased students' psychological well-being before the comprehensive test ( P = 0.001)., Conclusion: It is recommended that educational programs be considered before the comprehensive examination to promote the mental health and success of these students., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts of interest., (Copyright: © 2022 Journal of Education and Health Promotion.)

Background: Nurses have a challenging job and encounter more stressful situations. In response to these situations, they demonstrate adaptive or maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies (CERS). As there is a lack of literature regarding the factors predicting the selection of CERS, the present study aimed to investigate the role of age, sex, marital status, working experience, type of ward, and education level in predicting these strategies in Iranian nurses., Materials and Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted to examine predictive factors' emotion regulation strategies used by 193 nurses who worked at six hospitals under the supervision of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2018. The study population were selected by stratified random sampling method. Data were collected by two questionnaires, one demographic questionnaire and the other was Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire conducted by Garnefski (α = 0.8). Data analysis was performed using correlation and multiple linear regression., Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the "type of ward" and "age" with adaptive and maladaptive strategies. In the multiple linear regression model, two variables of age ( P = 0.03) and type of ward ( P = 0.04) were able to predict 23% of variance CERS., Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, health-care providers and hospital managers should pay attention to factors related to adaptive and maladaptive CERS., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts of interest., (Copyright: © 2021 Journal of Education and Health Promotion.)
