The present study aims to explore the global landscape of neurotechnology research and investigate the factors that influence its citation impact. The data for the study were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database, resulting in a total of 1,473 articles related to neurotechnology. The study identified a notable increase in neurotechnology research over time, peaking at 37.20% from 2020 to 2023, with Scientific Reports as the leading journal. Collaborative efforts with two to four authors constituted 42.90% of the total articles. The United States led country-level contributions (29.26%). The University of California secured the top rank with 4.48% of the total publications. The United States Department of Health and Human Services remains at the top by contributing funding to 7.46% of research papers in the field of Neurotechnology research. Statistical tests confirmed significant correlations between research funding, collaboration, and research availability mode with citation impact. Positive correlations were identified between research funding and collaboration, while open access availability showed a negative correlation with citation impact. Data services, including consultation services for data management and data visualization, have been increasingly needed among health sciences libraries over the past decade, arising from mandates from funders and a need to effectively communicate information gleaned from a proliferating amount of data. The purpose of this paper is to examine the extent to which U.S.-based health sciences libraries provide services and resources to meet data-related needs. To do so, the authors examined the webpages of American Association of Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) for published evidence of data-related services and resources. This column focuses on the Scirus database. Scirus searches the Web and journal sources for scientific information. Journal sources include BioMed Central, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Project Euclid (mathematics and statistics), Scitation (American Institute of Physics), and SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). Among the Web resources searched are the CogPrints (cognitive sciences), e-Print arXiv (physics, math, computer science), NASA, the U.S. Patent Office, and international patents via Lexis- Nexis. Comprehensive emergency and disaster management is a necessity in our complex world. Readily available information resources hold the key to keeping people and property safe during both natural and man-made disasters. Software developers have heeded the call and created mobile applications to provide vital information when there is little time to spare. The applications highlighted in this column have been chosen to illustrate resources available for both members of the public and professionals to use in times of emergency and crisis. Owing to their unique and rare nature, special collections materials within medical and health sciences libraries are ideal candidates for digitization. Digital conversion projects provide librarians with the means to preserve materials and provide greater collection access. Special privacy considerations arise, however, when digitizing medical archives which may contain sensitive information subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy legislation. Through an analysis of legal, archival, and library literature, the authors highlight privacy and ethical concerns, pinpoint privacy issues inherent within various formats, and provide solutions for digitizing privacy-sensitive historical medical resources. Microblogging is the latest and greatest technology to hit libraries and their staffs across the country. Medical libraries, physicians, students, and national health organizations are all starting to utilize microblogging services such as Twitter. This new type of communication is designed to provide its audience with short, to-the-point information, which is in stark contrast to traditional medical documentation processes that are long and often times overly formal and confusing. In this rapidly changing environment, it has become increasing important for medical libraries, as with many institutions, to meet their strategic missions more effectively.
