Defective engineering and the addition of noble metal are effective strategies to realize the high photocatalytic performance of SrTiO3perovskite. Here, the Pd/SrTiO3catalyst was successfully prepared by the low-temperature plasma treatment coupling with photochemical deposition of metal Pd, which was applied to the photocatalytic degradation of toluene. Compared with single STO, STON, and Pd-STO catalysts, the prepared Pd-STON catalyst shows the excellent UV photocatalytic performance toward toluene degradation, realizing a ca.80 % degradation efficiency within 90 min reaction time. Based on various characterizations, it revealed that plasma treatment promoted the formation of surface oxygen defects, and strengthened the metal-support interaction. The resultant surface oxygen vacancy accelerated the migration rate of photogenerated electrons and the separation of electrons and holes in space, benefiting for superior performance. It is expected that this study can provide new avenues for the rational design of highly efficient photocatalysts for potential practical applications.

Tuning the metal-support interaction is an effective strategy for improved catalytic performance in catalytic combustion of methane. Herein, we prepared Pd/LaMnO3catalysts using two types of LaMnO3, that were achieved by plasma treatment or traditional thermal treatment respectively. Contrast to the LaMnO3(LMO-T) support, the plasma-treated LaMnO3(LMO-P) support has large surface specific area, porosity and many surface defects. Among these catalysts, the Pd supported on plasma-treated LaMnO3(Pd/LMO-P) shows the best catalytic activity (T90= 471 °C) and the lowest Eavalue (74 kJ/mol). It reveals that the high performance should be attributed to the large surface area, surface-rich active species and strong metal-support interaction. The XPS techniques also demonstrated that the plasma-treated could boost the electron transfer between PdOxand LaMnO3, improving the redox properties. Moreover, the plasma-treated catalyst exhibits an excellent performance under thermal and water-vapor coexistence environment. The superior performance can arouse interest for the design of advanced catalyst in environmental catalysis.

Amine adsorbents have been widely investigated for direct CO2capture from air. However, the low amine efficiency of the widely-studied amine sorbents is the critical factor to hinder the practical application under dry conditions. Herein, we developed the brush-like cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) templating strategy to prepare micro-mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MMSN-X) and TEPA-functionalized adsorbents (MMSN-X/TEPA-Y). The character of samples was investigated by transmission electron microscopy, N2adsorption-desorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analyzer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The adsorbent (MMSN-30/TEPA-50) with appropriate amount of brush-like CTAC exhibited higher CO2adsorption capacities (3.68 mmol/gadsorbentunder simulated dry air conditions) than that of the adsorbents with none or less additives. The kinetic and thermodynamic model were applied to investigate the adsorption rate control factors and adsorption behavior of CO2adsorbents with brush-like CTAC. Moreover, with the effect of brush-like CTAC, the significant variation of adsorption product (conversion from carbamate (CO2/N = 0.5) to carbamic acid (CO2/N = 1)) was detected by in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. These results demonstrated that the combination of CO2and amine was altered in the presence of brush-like CTAC and thereby the amine efficiency was enhanced, which could be expected to be an efficient adsorbent for CO2from air in practical applications.
