A series of 2amino5aryl5,6dihydropyrido2,3dpyrimidine4,73H,8Hdione derivatives were synthesized via the threecomponent reaction of aromatic aldehyde, 2,6diaminopyrimidine 43Hone, and Meldrums acid in water in the presence of triethylbenzylammonium chloride TEBAC. Various biologically important quinoxaline derivatives were efficiently synthesized in excellent yields by the reaction of 1,2diketones and 2nitroaniline, benzofuroxan or 1,2dinitrobenzene promoted by SnCl22H2O. The role of stannous chloride is acting as both reductive agent and catalyst in this synthesis. This new method has the advantages of accessible starting materials, convenient manipulation, short reaction time and high yields.

A series of pyrimido4,5bquinoline and indeno2′,1′:5,6pyrido2,3dpyrimidine derivatives were synthesized viathe threecomponent reaction of an aldehyde, 6aminopyrimidine2,4dione and 5,5dimethyl1,3cyclohexanedione or 1,3indanedione in ionic liquid 1nbutyl3methylimidazolium bromide bmimBr. This protocol has the advantages of easier workup, milder reaction conditions, high yields and an environmentally benign procedure compared with other methods.

In this paper the preparation of 3,3,6,6tetramethyl9,10diaryl1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10decahydroacridine1,8dione derivatives from aldehydes, aromatic amines and 5,5dimethyl1,3cyclohexanedione in 1nbutyl3methylimidazolium bromide bmimBr is described. The structures of these compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectra and further confirmed by single crystal Xray diffraction analysis.
