Crepe weave fabrics, known for their pebbly or crinkled (rough) surface, are widely used in clothing and bedding applications. Crinkled appearance for crepe weave can be achieved by different interlacement patterns. Generally, six methods/interlacement patterns are commercially used for fabricating crepe woven fabrics. However, there isn't any significant study reporting clothing comfort and mechanical attributes of crepe variants. In this study, crepe fabrics were developed by these six methods i.e., Base sateen (BS), Reversing method (R), Superimpose (SI), Subset (SS), Quarter turn (QT), and Plain base (P) methods. The yarn linear density, fabric density, and other fabric parameters were kept the same to determine the best development method for fabricating crepe woven fabric having higher thermal, sensorial, and mechanical properties. Characterization data revealed that each crepe variation possesses unique structural and physical parameters making performance differences i.e., the BS specimen exhibited the highest air permeability owing to higher porosity, the R specimen had superior Overall moisture management capability (OMMC) index due to compact yarn linkage, and the SS specimen showed best thermal conductivity performance due to its sophisticated crinkled appearance. Among mechanical attributes QT exhibited higher tensile and puncture strengths due to its compact structure with higher interlacements however, sateen interlacement governing yarn slippage made the tear strength higher for the BS specimen. The use of cushioned insoles has been recommended as a method to reduce the impact forces on feet associated with running. This study is used to determine the influence of insole structure and thickness on the permeability and conductivity properties of air and temperature. The insoles are constructed with warp-knitted polyester spacer fabrics with 3D construction and have good cushioning, permeability, and conductivity properties. The middle layer is made up of polyester monofilament yarn which decides the thickness of fabric, and the two outer surfaces of the fabric were made from polyester multifilament yarns which is a closed and open structure. The comfort properties of spacer fabric have been studied by measuring air permeability, water vapor permeability, and thermal properties with respect to fabric porosity. One-way analysis of variance is used to analyze the significant of fabric thickness and surface structures. The experimental result shows that the vertical gap of the two outer surface layers and the horizontal pore size of the face surface decide the permeability and conductivity properties of spacer fabrics. The fabric with higher porosity show high permeability of air and water vapor. Depending on the fabric thickness and structure, the 4-mm thickness of spacer fabric with locknit structure resulted in low air and water vapor permeability. It is found that the 3.1-mm thickness spacer fabric with hexagonal net structure proves to have good air and water vapor permeability and comparatively lower thermal conductivity. Motorcycle protective clothing is designed to protect motorcyclists from injuries during accidents. It helps to protect the motorcyclist and pillion passengers during the collision and acts as a barrier between the rider's skin and tarmac surface. Soft tissue trauma is common in motorcycle accidents and protective clothing can protect the soft tissue of the riders up to a certain extent during accidents. Though there are many reasons for road accidents and injuries, the reasons such as uncomfortable clothing, thermally inefficient protective clothing during hot climatic conditions, and ineffective performance of the personal protective equipment (PPE) are also to be considered seriously. Motorcycle clothing is specially designed in such a way that it could give better protection against impact and abrasion during the collision. An increase in the usage of the motorcycle has also in turn increased the crash statistics. This paper deals with the significance of motorcycle clothing, materials, test standards, and their performance characteristics. As per the review results, most of the motorcycle protective clothing has failed to meet out the quality standard protocols. Impact resistance, abrasion resistance, thermal comfort, and ergonomics are the major areas where more focus is required. This study demonstrated that the changes in functional and comfort properties of knitted cotton fabrics were determined by the knitted structure as well as type and concentration of finishing agent. To improve the comfort properties, one should ensure the smoothness of fabric surface, air permeability, heat transmittance as well as hydrophilicity of the knitted fabrics, by selecting the proper knit structure and/or by applying the proper finish such as bio-finish. Soft-finished fabric samples had lower tendency to shrinkage and lower stiffness unless compared with other finished fabrics.
