Abstract

Genetic testing is becoming more common and so the willingness of medical personnel to release genetic information to third parties with and without patients' permission is important to know. A survey of 1140 non-genetic specialists and 280 genetic specialists was conducted to determine the differences between specialists and non-specialists' releasing of genetic data. Genetic specialists were less likely to release the data while there were distinct differences among the others. The survey differentiated between insurance companies and relations for releasing of data.
