Abstract: The structures and vibrational frequencies of mixed beryllium carbon dianions have been studied by the hybrid B3LYP functional at 6-311+G(2df) level. The results show that the most stable structures of dianions are linear and better referred to as , , , and , respectively. Their vertical detachment energies and the adiabatic detachment energies have been determined. Possible dissociation paths of the most stable structures of have been explored. Predicted dissociation energies indicate that the fragmentation channels to for n=2, 4, and 6, as well as to for n=3 and 5 are energetically favorable, respectively. On the basis of calculated electron detachment energies and dissociation energies, we conclude that dianion is metastable, and the linear , , and chains have high stabilities with respect to the electron detachment and the skelecton fragmentation.
