The thrust of this article speaks to the fateful colonial encounter between Africa and Europe and the resultant underdevelopment of the former. Hence, despite decolonisation having taken effect, with various internal and external attempts being made to reverse Africa's underdevelopment, the continent is still in crisis mode. However, the African renaissance continues as a newer attempt at addressing the state of affairs characterised by poverty, instability, dictatorship and growing social inequality on the continent since the beginning of the 20th century. Considering the above situation, this work asserts that the social sciences and humanities have been found wanting with regard to contributing to the process of reviving and regenerating Africa because such disciplines remain steeped in their Eurocentric origins. Contrary to traditional library history taught in American schools of library and information science, the library, as an institution, and librarianship, as a profession, have their roots in ancient African society. Thus Africa, in addition to being the birthplace of the modern human species, is also the birthplace of librarianship. Thousands of years before the emergence of Greece as the fountainhead of Western civilization, African people in ancient Kemet (Egypt) had developed an advanced system for collecting, organizing, describing, preserving, and providing access to information, and had developed a class of professionals to operate the system. Until this truth is known, and incorporated into our social consciousness and the library school curriculum, we will continue to masquerade as the informed, when, in reality; we are the misinformed and miseducated "educated". The Afrocentric paradigm has revolutionized the field of Black studies for the past several decades following scholar Molefi Asante's extensive works on the theory. Many other scholars have since advanced the Afrocentric idea with similar or dissenting views and interpretations. While recognizing the utility of these works in terms of their intellectual engagements with the theory as well as their respective contributions to the field, the literature on the theory does not appear to be endowed with many scholarly works that have explored the policy perspective of the concept. This paper makes the case for the elevation of the concept from the intellectual construct to the policy domain. The paper argues that the underlying tenets of the Afrocentric idea have the ability to redefine the widespread negative portrayal of Black identity through concrete policy ideas and initiatives. This paper is lyrical and philosophical examination on hope and optimistic struggle in the sungura music of Tongai Moyo (1968-2011), a Zimbabwean singer-song writer and musician (guitarist) who produced 14 albums in a career spanning over two decades and thus demonstrated the indispensability of optimistic thriving and victory-centered African consciousness. The argument maintained in the article is that a trajectory of thought that is marked by the necessity of possibility and purposeful human agency is discernible in the music of Tongai Moyo. It is emphasized that TongaiMoyo's vision as embedded and reflected in his music is rewarding for the people of Africa, and around the world. It is further argued that Tongai Moyo takes sungura music to greater heights because his art celebrates victorious thought, while castigating pessimism as impoverishing. Last, the article contends that Tongai Moyo was an Afrocentric musician who breaks the seemingly developing trend in sungura music circles where utter pessimism and victimhood are projected as the only condition of life. "The Implications of Africa-centered Conceptions of Time and Space for Quantitative Theorizing," looks at Eurocentric scientific conceptions of time and space, how they effect theorizing concerned with these matters, and how they are altered as one considers non- Eurocentric conceptions. For example, one might look at the assertion of circularity, holism, and continuity in contrast to linearity, disjunction, and discontinuity. The example focused on is a scholarly article focusing on constraints associated with time travel. Though infrequently acknowledged, anteriority informs the development of the African American literary tradition because African American thinkers studied the ancient African record for inspiration as they consciously instigated Africana creative production since the nineteenth century. It is a limited contemporary notion to credit Afrocentricity, alone, for featuring the record of Ancient Kemetic achievement as a catalyst for advancing African agency. Based on this legacy, Afrocentric literary criticism advances a corrective that includes the early history and adds new applications of African-centered cosmology to African American literary analysis.
