Abstract

A study of the synthesis, photophysical and photochemical properties of a series of stable bacteriochlorins containing a fused six-member anhydride and amide ring is discussed. The results show that the Q(sub y) bands of the compounds are significantly red shifted as compared to the Q(sub y) band of BChla as the large red shift is reflected in the one-electron redox potentials of the substituted bacteriochlorins.

Abstract

The electronic communication observed due to interaction between the porphyrin and the quinoxaline is demonstrated. The electron transfer through a molecular wire is demonstrated by using bis-(quinoxalino) porphyrins in free-base form and their [Zn.sup.II], [Cu.sup.II], [Ni.sup.II], and [Pd.sup.II] derivatives.
