Nationwide food intake survey was conducted to examine the reasons for the difference in the patterns of food intake patterns of the unemployed and pensioners. The socioeconomic and demographic factors that influence the food intake patterns of the two groups are highlighted.

Abstract

Consumer demand models of alcohol and tobacco consumption in Poland are estimated for policy evaluation purposes. Conflict in policies arise from the need to generate funds and the social responsibility to curb alcohol and tobacco consumption. Restrictive policies, such as increased taxes, only lead to increased prices and revenues. A long-term solution to reduce demand is to diminish dependence on these revenues by improving the level of economic activities.
