In this systematic review, the concept of the circular economy deals with much rigor to gain insights from the viewpoint of business sustainability. The ambivalent nature of the circular economy and business sustainability has led the authors to examine 142 papers from the Web of Science database for review. This study intends to provide a clear understanding of the circular economy concept through the lens of business sustainability. We synthesize the literature in a concrete form for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers by presenting a thematic framework. Based on the systematic review, key findings outlining trends and a reflection about the interface of the circular economy principles systematically and categorically identified nine business processes. Based on the analysis, key findings highlight on (a) addressing the synergy between the circular economy principles and business sustainability at the nine categorized business processes, as a systemic and holistic process; (b) future studies to work on developing tools and techniques to effectively measure the practical applicability in integrating the circular economy principles with the business strategies and models, including research methods like empirical research, action, and longitudinal research; and (c) the need to develop approaches and strategies to engage customers and other company stakeholders with the circular business processes adopted. In the past two decades, the Journal of Public Affairs has solidified corporate public affairs as a legitimate leadership skillset vital to driving future business growth. Yet, more work at a persistently overlooked gap in the Journal, the intersection of public affairs and family businesses, might shed new light on thriving, trusted, and sustainable business practices. This paper examines the unique contributions of family businesses as trusted influencers. As one of the most prominent forms of business, worldwide, family businesses persistently enjoy unusually high levels of public trust while collectively employing millions of wage earners yet their contributions to corporate external affairs research ostensibly have been largely overlooked. These "silent" community and social influencers offer a potentially new perspective on effective public outreach given their persistent and unique trust advantage. Family business' trust‐based capabilities can potentially bring new insights to understanding effective stakeholder engagement, credible communications, and issues management—the sweet spot of corporate public affairs functions. This paper examines the sustainability of the current account deficit (CAD) and validity of the intertemporal budget constraint of India for the period of 1980 to 2019. The cointegration results show that exports and imports are not cointegrated and the current account (CA) series is not mean reverting during the study period. Therefore, the results refute the sustainability of CAD and the validity of the intertemporal budget constraint in the Indian context. Furthermore, the study also emphasised the testing of the disaggregated CA and found that while the goods account is not sustainable, the services account found to be sustainable in the long run. Our findings thus indicate the potential for aggregation bias to have an impact on the overall CA sustainability results. Therefore, policies that help in achieving self‐sufficiency on the one hand and export promotion in goods on the other may eventually contribute to CA sustainability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper studies the role of social media in India's Green School Initiative with special reference to Green schools of Gujarat under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) project conceptualized and executed by the Government of Gujarat. By using a socio psychological framework researchers have tried to explore the role of social media in facilitating the Go green campaign, creating awareness and promoting sustainable education during the Green Schools Initiative in Gujarat. This study is based on in‐depth interviews of 35 Green school Principals of who were proactively involved and observed the processes of conceptualization and implementation of social media strategies of government green schools. This research explores the role of different social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Email, Text messaging etc. during the Green Schools Initiative in Gujarat. Little research on the role of social media in promoting the Green schools' concept has addressed school owners, sustainability, and green school practices. Policies requiring green infrastructure and sustainable practices are gaining popularity quickly and becoming more common. However, we know little about how different social media platforms have enabled Green schools to inform people and mark their social presence. Environmental awareness is the need of the hour. The productivity and growth of an organization depend on the attrition rate of its workforce. The low workforce attrition rate increases the competency of an organization. Although there are numerous studies on employee retention, human resource managers are still struggling to hold their employees for a longer time. This paper studies the mediating role of growth needs and job satisfaction on independent construct deficiency needs and dependent construct talent retention for talent sustainability. The judgemental sampling technique was adopted to interview 414 employees of different BPOs and Call Centres situated in Delhi NCR through a self‐administered questionnaire. Mediation analysis was performed with the help of Smart PLS‐SEM 3.0. The deficiency needs have an insignificant impact on talent retention, whereas the path deficiency needs, mediated by growth needs and job satisfaction, have a greater and significant impact on talent retention. This research has been undertaken to examine the role of critical success factors (CSFs) for sustainability in quality of Higher Education Institutes in India. Sustainable development requires a holistic view being taken of all interests. The aspects considered here are: Branding, employability, employee experience, and student experience. The study tries to analyze their impact on overall performance. The results highlight that academic culture mediates between student experience and overall performance. The current research also indicates that academic culture mediates between employee experience and overall performance. Employee experience through academic culture emerges as a strongest predictor of overall performance. Student experience through academic culture emerges as an another important predictor of overall performance. Employability was next to follow. The beta values were low for branding. The results highlight that for improving performance, Indian higher educational Institutes need to focus on branding. Implementing this model will enable educational Institutions to focus on these predictors to boost overall performance and equip engineers with requisite skills through academic culture. Tourism contributes approximately one‐fifth to total global employment. However, growth in tourism can promote an increase in transportation, energy consumption, natural resource exploration, and consequential ecological distortions. This study applies a battery of second‐generation econometric techniques to investigate the influence of tourism development and natural resource on a comprehensive environmental indicator; the ecological footprint (EF), in the ten most visited destinations. The findings show that tourism receipts have an increasing effect on EF, while tourism arrivals have a reducing effect on EF. The country‐wise results reveal that tourism receipts increase the EF in China, Italy, Spain, and the UK, while the reverse holds true for France, Germany, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico, and the US. The influence of natural resource on the EF is mixed. Natural resource increases the EF in China, France, Germany, Spain, and the UK. A feedback causality exists among EF, natural resource, and tourism development. Policy directions are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aims to assess the improvements of sanitation system of Kumasi metropolitan area. Sanitation conditions in Africa remain awful with approximately 20% of the population reported to still engage in open defecation in Sub‐Saharan Africa, despite major improvements in other climes of the world. In Ghana, the impacts of poor sanitation systems range from negatively impacting natural resources water quality, to causing health threats to the populations involved. Using health as selected sustainable sanitation, this research assesses reported cases of diseases and deaths associated with unsatisfactory sanitation from 2008 to 2015. Both primary and secondary data were employed. The primary data was collected through interview with key informants by purposive sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed via primary descriptive statistical methods. Results indicate slight improvements in the sanitation system. Our findings suggest that the number of diseases is high due to poor sanitation. However, statistics of deaths are minimal, and these were ascribed to improvements in health care in Ghana. The study has offered recommendations in order to improve sanitation system within the metropolis toward more sustainability. The research is significant because theory developers, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners can make use of its findings to tackle the problems of sustainable sanitation since theories and practices of sustainable sanitation are constantly evolving. The present research work aims at synthesizing the evolution of Environmental sustainability from the theoretical lens of politico‐social impacts on the corporate environmentalism. The phenomenon of Environmental sustainability as a formally recognized and defined concept started to appear in western discourse in the late 60s and 70s, with formal definition coming only at 80s. Meanwhile, western politics, media and activists became active in putting pressure on corporates for sustainable environmental practices. This lead to the advent of era of regulatory controls where governments in the west took the central role. With the increasing activism of civil societies and other secondary stakeholders, businesses and governments equally realized the need for self‐regulatory (normative) and increasingly voluntary focus on environmental sustainability. Recently, the shift has been to developing nations from the western countries with EU effect and Shanghai effect placing prominence of trade and geo‐politics on cross‐border effects of corporate environmentalism from developed nations on developing nations. However, as shown by the recent researches, market forces are still weak and findings at the best indicate nonexistent or meagre linkage between financial indicators and corporate environmentalism, even in developing nations the trend remains similar. This raises concern about the future politico‐social direction of corporate environmentalism, however, one thing is clear that Asian countries especially India and China will get increasing focus. The implementation of economic development policies seems to be a persistent problem hindering local economic development (LED) in South Africa. The main aim of this article was to assess the implementation and sustainability of pro‐poor LED in the King Cetshwayo District municipality. The need to address poverty and unemployment is one of the most critical issues in this municipality. A qualitative approach was adopted in this article whereby eight in‐depth interviews were conducted among municipal officials in uMhlathuze and uMfolozi local municipalities. The researchers further conducted 14 focus group discussions with community members, which included cooperatives. The findings show that LED in the King Cetshwayo District municipality was conceptualised generally as a form of partnership or coalition undertaken between the key players in a local municipality and involves the development of partnerships between the private sector, government and civil society. Moreover, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) together with other stakeholders, including the municipality, has put measures in place to assist small and medium business enterprises (SMMEs) to benefit from the RBIDZ activities. The article recommends that partnership with young people, businesses and community organisations must be strengthened in order to address the problem of unemployment. This will open a space for more stable job opportunities for the residents. A certain percentage of outsourced work must be given to the youth who are qualified to do the job, and youth must be able to access funding when they try to establish cooperatives, SMEs and non‐profitable organisations (NPOs). Using annual data for the period 1980–1981 to 2014–2015, the study explores the impact of crude oil imports and real exchange rate on India's current account performance. Utilizing the recent co‐integration econometric tools on a current account balance model, the findings contrary to the theoretical prediction revealed that crude oil import significantly improves the current account balance in the long run. Furthermore, the fiscal balance and financial development significantly contribute to the current account performance, whereas real exchange rate, trade openness and age dependency cause deterioration in India's current account balance in the long run.
