This study aims to determine the mediator effect of alienation between its antecedents and organizational commitment. The data obtained from 399 employees, who work in Ankara, and analysed with quantitative research methods. By analyzing the data, a strong positive relationship has been found between role ambiguity and organizational alienation according to the results of the analysis conducted to determine the relationship between those variables. Besides, democratic leadership behaviors have a significant effect on both organizational alienation and organizational commitment. Additionally, organizational alienation has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between democratic leadership, which is one of the antecedents of alienation, and organizational commitment. Similarly, there is the partial mediation effect of organizational alienation in the relationship between role uncertainty and organizational commitment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
