1. Potentiometric, spectrophotometric, and (super 1)H NMR study of four desferrioxamine B derivatives and their ferric complexes

Abstract

Potentiometric studies of four octadentate desferrioxamine B (DFO) derivatives, DFOMTA, DFOCAM, DFOCAMC and DFOHOPO reveal that all four complexes are more stable and better iron chelating agents than the parent DFO complex. Spectrophotometric studies yield log K values of 34.8, 35.4, 34.9 and 30.7 for DFOMTA, DFOCAM, DFOCAMC and DFOHOPO, respectively. The catecholate derivatives are trishydroxamate at low pH and bishydroxamate monocatecholate at high pH.

Abstract

The reaction of Osub2 with copper(I) plays an important part in biological and synthetic oxidative catalysis. Many of the systems to elucidate the structure-reactivity relationship of Cu/Osub2 species are based on the binuclear copper protein hemocyanin (Hc). A study of the characterization and reactivity of Cu/Osub2 from a reaction of Osub2 and Cu(I) peralkylated-1,2-cyclohexanediamine complexes, is presented.

Abstract

A C2 symmetrical 20-membered macrocyclic dihydroxamate, alcaligin, (AG), forms a binuclear metal complex, (Fe2AG3), with Fe(III). The rigidity of AG moiety makes the free ligand conformation of Fe2AG3 chelating units highly preorganized for complexing with Fe(III). This new class of mono bridged dihydroxamate siderophores have a U-shaped molecular conformation and each Fe3+ is coordinated in a pseudooctahedral manner.
