Abstract

The article reports on research which investigated social isolation in elderly adults with chronic respiratory failure who were undergoing long term oxygen therapy (LTOT). Researchers evaluated 50 patients undergoing LTOT. They found that LTOT led to social isolation and that support groups could alleviate the problem of social isolation.
