Despite Carl Gustav Jung's acknowledgment of Albert Einstein's influence on his thinking, and despite the significant number of studies about Jung's interest in physics—and his collaboration with the theoretical physicist Wolfgang Pauli—so far there has been no thorough investigation into the connection between Jung and Einstein. This paper fills the void by reconstructing the circumstances of the meetings between the two men; by analysing the dynamics and importance of their relationship and by offering insights into the reasons why the connection did not last. The reconstruction of the narrative of this connection serves as a good foundation for future research into Einstein's intellectual influence on Jung. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: If his relationship to Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis has been widely acknowledged, Claude Lévi‐Strauss’ rapport with C.G. Jung's analytical psychology remains quite obscure. While secondary commentary has been abundant, its approach has above all been intertextual, to the detriment of a rigorously historical reading. Even if certain arguments put forward by supporters of so‐called “influence” deserve to be taken into account, especially because they highlight Lévi‐Strauss ambiguities and paradoxes toward Jung, this paper provides proof that a precise reading of the texts, with the help of recent studies on the intellectual genesis of Lévi‐Strauss, lead to reject the thesis of an unstated debt owed by the French anthropologist to the Zurich psychologist. This paper addresses (1) the history of a cluster of unusual institutions — analytical psychology clubs — which started in 1961 and by 1934 had become established in many of the countries in the world in which there was interest in the analytical psychology of Carl G. Jung; (2) the conflicts involved in trying to unite the relatively informal earlier ‘Jung Clubs’ with the more formal societies being established by the increasing numbers of professionally trained analysts; and (3) the wider cultural and social issues included in the professionalization of analytical psychology. Although the "Negro" question merited only passing reference during Jung's 1957 interview (2020, pp. 34-35) surely it is no longer acceptable to ignore those allegations of racism first raised by Radin (1927, p. 63) a Jungian and colleague of Jung's? Richard Evans (1922-2015) graduated junior college in 1942, served 3 years in the army, and, having completed his studies at the University of Pittsburgh, was appointed instructor of Psychology at the University of Tennessee and then at Michigan State University (Anon, 1950) before becoming a professor and Director of Social Psychology at the University of Houston. Evans's question minimizes those allegations whilst his own intervention simply repeats Jung's claim that "Jews who had known him most intimately... have taken it upon themselves to contradict the myth of his anti-Semitism.".
