Coverage by National Health Insurance (NHI) was expanded in the abdominal imaging area as follows: upper abdominal ultrasound on April 1, 2018, lower abdominal ultrasound on February 1, 2019, and abdominal MRI on November 1, 2019. Many patients can benefit from the expansion of NHI coverage. Newly included diseases for NHI coverage includes liver cirrhosis, gallbladder polyps, hepatic adenoma/dysplastic nodules, pancreatic cysts, autoimmune pancreatitis and bile duct stone disease. However, the expansion of coverage made each examination more complex, including indications, follow-up strategy, the number of examination per patients, the standard images to be acquired, and the standard forms of the radiological report. Therefore, more careful consideration is mandatory when an abdominal imaging examination is prescribed and conducted.

Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are extremely rare mesenchymal neoplasms of Schwann cell origin. Malignant GCTs (MGCTs) comprise 0.5–2% of all GCTs. In the present report, we describe a case of a 66-year-old man with MGCT of the abdominal wall. The patient visited our hospital due to a recently growing palpable soft tissue mass in the abdominal wall. Computed tomography scan revealed a 4.3 × 4.1 × 2.9 cm sized mass arising from the left abdominal wall, which was contemplated as a desmoid tumor before surgical excision. Histopathological examination confirmed MGCT.

십이지장 게실 천공은 매우 드문 질환으로 그에 따르는 치사 율이 매우 높아 초기 진단과 신속한 치료가 중요하다. 그러나 비 특이적 증상을 보이기 때문에 의심하지 않으면 다른 질환으로 오진하기 쉽다. 그 진단에는 여러 가지 영상검사가 사용될 수 있 으나, 지금껏 보고된 십이지장 게실 천공 증례들의 많은 수가 영상의학적으로 초기에 진단을 하지 못하였다(1, 2). 그러나 전 산화단층촬영(computed tomography; 이하 CT)의 기술적 발 전에 따라 가능해진 다면상 재구성(multiplanar reformation)이 십이지장 게실 천공의 정확한 진단에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보 인다. 저자들은 상복부 통증으로 내원한 33세 여자 환자에서 CT의 다면상 재구성을 통하여 정확히 진단된 십이지장 게실 천 공의 증례를 보고하고자 한다.

Purpose: To analyze chest radiographic findings in children infected with laboratoryconfirmed novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus. Purpose: To evaluate the imaging findings of uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis. Materials and Methods: From March 2003 to December 2008, five patients with uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis were evaluated as part of this study. We retrospectively reviewed the CT, ultrasound, and MRI findings as well as the medical records of each patient. Results: The patients initially underwent an imaging study for abdominal pain (n=3), recurrent vaginal bleeding (n=1), and prenatal evaluation (n=1). Of the five patients that underwent US, four had hematocolpos and two of them had hematometra. Moreover, three patients underwent a CT examination. The MR examination of four patients revealed hematocolpos (n=3), hematometra (n=1), and a tubular structure resembling an ectopic ureter (n=2). The gynecologic examination of a patient without hematocolpos revealed a pinpoint hole in the vaginal septum. Two of four patients with hematocolpos underwent a vaginal septectomy, which resulted in an improvement of the symptoms. Conclusion: The most common finding of patients with uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis is vaginal fluid collection. Hematometra is not a consistent finding and can be transient according to the menstrual cycle. MR is the most useful imaging modality for the diagnosis of an ectopic ureter.

Benign multicystic mesothelioma is a rare mesothelial lesion that forms multicystic masses in the upper abdomen, pelvis, and retroperitoneum. Most cases have a benign course. We present the ultrasound and MR findings of benign multicystic mesothelioma in the left round ligament, which caused a left inguinal hernia in a 46-year-old woman.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical, CT and MR imaging findings of semicircular canal (SCC) aplasia and to evaluate if a correlation exists between these findings and the associated anomalies or syndromes. Materials and Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed the CT and MRI findings of five patients with SCC aplasia. The CT and MR findings were analyzed for SCC, direction of facial nerve canal, cochlea, vestibule, oval or round window, middle ear ossicles, and internal auditory canal (IAC). Results: The subjects included three boys and two girls ranging in age from one to 120 months (mean age; 51 months). Four of the subjects had the CHARGE syndrome, and one had the Goldenhar syndrome. Moreover, four subjects had sensorineural hearing loss and one had combined hearing loss. The course of the facial nerve canal was abnormal in all five cases. Moreover, trapped cochlea and dysplastic modiolus were each observed in one case. Four subjects had atresia of the oval window; whereas ankylosis of the ossicles was present in three subjects. IAC stenosis was present in one patient with the CHARGE syndrome. Conclusion: The aberrant course of the facial nerve canal, atresia of the oval window, and abnormal ossicles were frequently associated in patients with SCC aplasia. In addition, the Goldenhar and CHARGE syndromes were also commonly associated syndromes.

Pfeiffer syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the premature fusion of certain bones of the skull as well as skeletal deformities, including broad thumbs, great toes, and mid-face anomalies. In our case study, the spinal deformity was combined with type II Pfeiffer syndrome. We describe the radiologic findings of the vertebral and spinal cord anomalies, with emphasis on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, and a review of the literature on spinal deformities associated with Pfeiffer syndrome.
