Highlights: [•] Serology is used commonly to monitor PRRSV negative farms. [•] Commercial ELISA assays are used currently for detection of PRRSV antibodies. [•] An experimental fluorescent microbead-based immunoassay (FMIA) was modified. [•] The modified FMIA and commercial ELISAs were compared.
