This review offers a Jungian interpretation of the movie Encanto, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2022. The review demonstrates how Encanto is a deeply Jungian movie as transformation and healing occurs in the family members only after they become aware of their excessive and fixated identification with their own personas. Dissolution of personas precipitates a crisis that then accompanies various encounters with the shadow. This review fleshes out deeper layers of meanings embedded in this much celebrated movie through the Jungian concepts of persona, shadow, and individuation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
