The giant cell tumor of the salivary gland is very rare, and 20 cases have been reported in the English-language literature. We report an additional case. A 57-year old man had noticed a mass in the right parotid area for several weeks. The diagnosis using aspiration cytology was a giant cell tumor possibly with a carcinomatous component. Superficial parotidectomy was carried out. The resected parotid gland contained a 1.8 cm-sized well-circumscribed brownish tumor. Histologically the tumor consisted of evenly distributed osteoclast-like giant cells, mononuclear cells and two small foci of a carcinomatous component. The osteoclast-like giant cells and mononuclear cells were positive for vimentin and CD68, and the carcinomatous component was positive for cytokeratin and epithelial membrane antigen. There was no metastatic lesion in the cervical lymph nodes. We believe this is the first case in Korea of an osteoclast-like giant cell tumor of the parotid gland.

A seborrheic inclusion cyst (SIC) is a lesion, which has been described as a combination of seborrheic keratosis and an epidermoid cyst (EC). To the best of our knowledge, only eight cases of SIC have been reported thus far in the English literature[1-3]. Microscopically, SICs exhibit features that are suggestive of viral infection[4]. Therefore, an association between SICs and human papillomavirus (HPV) has been suspected, but it has only been demonstrated in one previous report by Terada,[1] which identified an HPV-positive SIC through immunohistochemical staining for HPV antigens. However, no SIC study has ever used HPV genotyping. Herein, we report the first case of SIC associated with HPV type 39, which we identified using the HPV DNA chip.

A 24-year-old man was admitted due to an incidentally detected mass in his left testis, which showed radiopaque calcification on plain X-ray film. Left orchiectomy was performed, and the resected testis contained a well-demarcated, hard mass measuring 1.1 cm. Histological analysis revealed that the tumor was composed of neoplastic cells, fibrotic stroma, and laminated or irregularly shaped calcific bodies. The individual cells had abundant eosinophilic or clear cytoplasm with round nuclei, each of which contained one or two conspicuous nucleoli. They were arranged in cords, trabeculae, clusters, and diffuse sheets. There were several foci of intra-tubular growth patterns, with thickening of the basal lamina. Immunohistochemically, the neoplastic cells were positive for S-100 protein and vimentin, focally positive for inhibin alpha, and negative for cytokeratin, CD10, and Melan-A. In addition to reporting this rare case, we also review the relevant literature regarding large cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumors.

Cutaneous lymphoma represents 4% of the total number of malignant lymphoma cases in Korea.1 Lymphoma may involve the skin as the primary and only site of involvement or as a secondary site of disease. Some lymphomas are present only in the skin, where they resemble their nodal counterparts histologically but nevertheless represent distinct entities.2 Currently, cutaneous lymphomas are classified according to either the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) or the World Health Organization (WHO) classification systems. Following a consensus meetings of the two organizations, a joint WHO-EORTC classification was developed.2,3 Compared with 2001 WHO classification system, primary cutaneous aggressive epidermotropic CD8-positive cytotoxic T-cell lymphoma, primary cutaneous γδ T-cell lymphoma, and primary cutaneous small/medium CD4-positive T-cell lymphoma are included as provisional entities, and variants of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) are also described. In addition, the 4th edition of the WHO classification system includes blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell (BPDC) neoplasms previously categorized as blastic natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma.2,4 To date, several large scale studies on cutaneous lymphoma have been performed in Western countries.3,5,6 However, literature on Korean cutaneous lymphomas is limited because of the rarity of cases and thus the inability to study large numbers of patients. In the present study, we analyzed the incidence of cutaneous lymphoma in Korean patients according to the new WHO-EORTC classification system.
