- Abstract
The article proposes -- following the intuitions of M. Picard -- a phenomenological view of silence in the human context. It indicates the multidimensional significance of the central concept. Even the negative implications of silence are considered from a historical and existential point of view. At this point the considerations move into an explicitly theological realm: Christ himself brought about the redemption of mankind quite often without saying a word. At the end, this fundamental Christian truth is applied for developing fundamental guidelines for the celebration of holidays in general and the liturgy of the Church in particular.
