President Roosevelt encloses a card for Evelyn Cecil and asks Corinne Roosevelt Robinson to tell Miss Brace he does not know anything about the announcement she mentioned. Roosevelt also notes he has "again stirred" Secretary of War William H. Taft up about Colonel Charles Judson Crane. Roosevelt enjoyed Robinson's visit.

Theodore Roosevelt forwards to Secretary of War Stimson a letter from Joseph Bucklin Bishop. Roosevelt praises the work of both Bishop and Colonel George W. Goethals on the Panama Canal. Roosevelt says that he, Gifford Pinchot, and James Rudolph Garfield are all pleased that Stimson has accepted the appointment as Secretary of War, even though Pinchot and Garfield "are still inclined to be entirely off in matters political."

Theodore Roosevelt sends an enclosure to Earl Grey. He expresses his sympathy for the Earl's cousin Edward Grey, Viscount of Fallodon, who was childless and lost his wife in a "really dreadful accident" and his brother.

Under the direction of Theodore Roosevelt, the secretary of Theodore Roosevelt encloses a letter to Homer Folks asking for his comment.

Theodore Roosevelt asks Secretary of the Navy Meyer to read the enclosed letter and do what is appropriate, saying that he believes "Rhoades to be a good man." Roosevelt enjoyed seeing Meyer the other day.

Senator Lodge has enclosed a letter from George von Lengerke Meyer about a conversation he had with the German Emperor.

Acting Secretary of State Loomis writes that information concerning the Cuban tariff and proposed Cuban duty on boots and shoes has been conveyed to General Tasker H. Bliss. The State Department's letter to the Secretary of War, Elihu Root, is enclosed.

With his friendly note, Frederick William Holls includes a copy of Baron von Kallay's pamphlet on Hungary and a copy of Mr. Balch's book on the Alaska Boundary, both of which he thinks will interest him. He wanted to send a copy of the "Bible for Learners," however, the edition he preferred was out of print and he will forward another edition to President Roosevelt.
