The present research paper observes the awareness of social networking sites (SNSs) among the students of Vijaya Teachers College (VTC). The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the awareness of students in the context of SNSs for their academic work. To conduct the study researcher used the survey method, used questionnaire for data collection as data collection tool. Findings of the study said most of the students are aware about social networking sites and they used it on daily basis. The aim of this paper is to discover the implication and use of the most important social networking tools in libraries. Librarians and Library staff should use and create various forms of social networks in library for their services and it influence and help to the users for library collection, new books arrivals, library rules regulations and updated library information etc,. Students are cavernous users of social networking sites, this efforts present libraries outreach possibilities to users who do not use the physical library. Social networking sites can be successful process of users outreach in libraries, if libraries to obtain and think about to respect users' privacy and to make available equal exposure for all sections. The most popularity of the social networking sites can modify quickly library environment and libraries should consider using social networking sites as an outreach effort but take care to avoid the potential negative concerns. This paper examines the Effect of Library Management Software on the Growth and Development of Library Services. It focuses on the following sub-headings: The Concept of Library Management Software; Library Management Software; Brief History of Software Usage in Nigerian Libraries; Features of Good Library Management Software; Criteria for the Library Software Selection; Prospects of Library Management Software; Problems Affecting the Utilization of Library Management Software; and the way forward. It concludes that the Library Management Committee has to be careful when scouting for any suitable software package, the most credible software package that would adequately meet the information needs of their libraries should be considered or selected. Also, there is need for the installation of the most efficient, cost effective and user-friendly library software package. Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is gradually gaining ground in Africa. Nigeria is a newcomer in the Open and Distance Learning paradigm. The experiences of several open and distance learning institutions such as the Open University of United Kingdom (OUUK), Athabasca University (Canada's Open University), Open University of Hong Kong, Indira Gandhi National Open University, (IGNOU), and University of South Africa (UNISA), have provided a baseline for the take-off of the only Open University in Nigeria - the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The successful take-off of NOUN is not without the incorporation of functional libraries. Effective library support to distance learners is mandatory for qualitative delivery of instruction and learning. This is where the developments in information and telecommunications are potent. This gave impetus to the development of virtual library services or library without walls. This development has definite benefits to distance learners. Developed and developing countries are now creating virtual learning environments and libraries without walls to reach multitudes of learners at various locations. This paper examines the general experiences of ODL in Africa, the evolution of ODL in Nigeria and the structure of library services provided to distant learners, particularly in Nigeria. It examines the challenges in creating and delivering a library without walls for distance education and the prospects of such a library without walls in a developing country like Nigeria. Libraries not only acquire, organize, retrieve and disseminate information but also provide some services such as references services, current awareness, selective dissemination of information, document delivery services and inter-library loan services. Others include internet, audiovisual, reprographic, customer relation and user education services. The sole aim of these services is to satisfy the information needs of the users and clienteles of the library. The catholic religious who are studying to become priests have information needs not only for their academics but also for their pastoral training, which is given a greater priority towards their eligibility as priests. Library and information research (LIS) has grown significantly asmore and more library and information science programs were established. The oldest LIS program in Indonesia is the Library and Information Department at the University of Indonesia (DIP UI) which was established in 1942. Since then, LIS at University of Indonesia has become a barometer for many other LIS programs in Indonesia. Other reputable LIS programs are Library & Information Science (JIIP) at Padjadjaran University, Department of Information and Library (DIIP) at Universitas Airlangga, and Library and Information Science at Diponegoro University, which are all located in big capital cities in Java Island. The development of LIS programs has a big contribution to the development of LIS research areas. Through their undergraduate theses and other scientific papers, LIS students have also had significant contributions to the development of LIS topics. Thesis is a compulsory unit for the bachelor degree in LIS in Indonesia, and so far there have been thousands of research in LIS conducted since the 1950s up to 2010s. However, there have not been many papers discussing the research trends in LIS in Indonesia. The aim of this chapter is to investigate the LIS research trends in Indonesia from 2006 to 2017. We took 5 reputable universities in Indonesia that have LIS programs as the sample, namely Universitas Airlangga-Surabaya, Diponegoro University-Semarang, Padjadjaran University-Bandung, North Sumatera University-Medan, and the University of Indonesia- Jakarta. The research samples are undergraduate theses that are available online in the institutional repositories of those five universities. This paper discussed the state of prison libraries and its services to the prison inmates in Nigeria. It takes a look at the collaboration of Nigerian Prisons Service with National Open University Nigeria (NOUN) and the NGOs. Problems that hinder the development of prison library services in Nigeria such as inadequate funding and space, difficulties in accessing information materials, and poor infrastructure, and poor collection management and management of prison by nonprofessionals, among others were examined. The roles of prison libraries in integrating the prison inmates back to society were also discussed. It was however recommended, in order to improve the library services in Nigerian prison that there is a need for proper funding of Nigerian prison libraries by government, while the body should also partner with Non-government organisations (NGOs), and improve on collection development policies. Provision of easy access to all the information materials available was also stressed along with management of prison library by librarians as parts of the solutions to various problems confronting libraries used by inmates in their struggle for survival, reconstruction, corrections, and final reintegration into Nigerian society. This paper explores the actual use of the physical space in Kenneth Dike Library by the students' population, the role these spaces are playing for learning and for related services in the university of Ibadan academic environment. It looked at the suitability of available spaces and suggestions for improvement. Survey method was adopted for the study with 94.5% response rate. It found that quite study space is what attracts majority respondents to Kenneth Dike Library. What emerged was that academic pursuits remain the most common activities in the library space. There is no gainsaying that academic libraries are a natural goldmine for the University community and for the general public as a whole. Extant literature has shown that academic libraries are source of enrichment for curriculum and research thus leading to academic productivity and global visibility of the parent institution. The main purpose of this paper is to explore how librarians in Indian Central Universities are using Cloud Computing tools into their daily library services and works. A structured questionnaire was designed & personally distributed as well as mailed to 407 respondents. Responses show that librarians are heavily reliant on cloud computing tools and majority of them are using various devices and want to imply the same to improve library services. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the use of social networking in promoting library services to undergraduate students in University of Nigeria Nsukka. The study was carried out in Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria Nsukka. The population of the study comprised 180 library staff and four research questions guided the study. Data for the study were generated using questionnaire and data were analysed using mean and standard deviation, frequency tables and percentages. The findings revealed that some social networking platforms are used for the promotion of library service to undergraduate students of University of Nigeria Nsukka. The findings also indicated that librarians' inability to use the social networking tools for library promotion though to fear of privacy and identity theft, electricity failure, slow speed of internet, librarians' lack of ICT skills among others are the challenges affecting the use of social networking in promoting library services to undergraduate students of University of Nigeria Nsukka. The study revealed; many social networking applications are not available; the use of social networking in promoting library services to students is on the average because some librarians know of the platform, but, don't promote library services; poor social networking policy implementation by the library; library staffers' in ability to use social networking effectively; library staff is been prevented from using social networking because of-electricity failure and slow internet network among others prevent library staff from using social networking. The library plays a significant role in any higher education centre to that provides formation services, resources, and facilities to support its clients for their systematic studies and research activities. This study deals with the awareness and usage of various services and facilities offered by the BLDE (DU) central library during the Pandemic. The research method adopted for this study was a Google Form with a self-designed questionnaire was prepared and circulated randomly among 100 PG students of BLDE-DU, in which 66 were responded. The result revealed that almost all the postgraduate students who responded are aware of the central library's variety of services & facilities. Circulation service is the major service that the PG students utilized following Plagiarism check and Literature search services. The research proposes that user satisfaction assessments be promoted based on the study's results. In addition, library administration should provide training sessions on how to utilise library services effectively on a regular basis. The study investigated the academic librarians ICT competency and skills towards effective library services in Ekiti State, Nigeria. Sample for the study comprised about 100 librarians who were randomly selected through simple random sampling. The type of ICT skills possessed by the librarian, level of their ICT competency, sources of ICT skills acquisition and the Challenges Librarians face when using ICT in delivering Library services in their respective libraries were the instruments used to collect relevant data for the study. Findings from the study indicated that librarians have both basic and intermediate ICT skill in the area of their specialization. Results showed that respondents acquire skills from rightful sources which can help them to perform their duties has librarian effectively. Study recommended more availability of ICT equipment in the library, stable electricity is needed, staff motivation, employ ICT expert to train others staff regularly and increment in library budget. Information needs arise when an individual finds himself in a problem situation, when he or she no longer can manage with the knowledge that he or she possess. Library patrons repeatedly find themselves in situations where information is needed, sought and gathered, organized, retrieved, processed, evaluated, and used. The objectives of this study are to examine the information requirements of students and researchers in Federal University Otuoke, to asses both human and material resources in the library; to determine the level at which the library satisfies the information needs of the users; and to find out best way(s) to meet these information needs of patrons in this ICT age. A Total of (250) library users from different departments and faculties were used as sample. Data were collected through a 20 item questionnaire which was developed based on objectives adopted. 220 dully completed questionnaires were returned in good condition. Data collected were analyzed using frequencies and percentages of responses. The findings revealed that the library patrons are more interested in the information related to, teaching, learning and research activities. The outcome of the research also revealed that the attitudes of the respondents were favorable in the use of library resources but there is the need for improvement in such areas as library services and provision of adequate space for readers. It was found out that majority of the respondents sought information from journals, textbooks, reference books than other library materials. This study was conducted in seventeen Indian university Libraries to assess the familiarity and usage of cloud computing applications among Library and information Science professionals. The investigator collected responses from 56 number of LIS professionals working at 17 Indian University Libraries, through a structured questionnaire. Results revealed that the usage of cloud computing applications in library operation and services is not very significant. However, LIS professionals are using those applications for different personal purposes like, Store Files Online, Store Personal Videos and photographs online and for Collaborative writing. However, majority of the librarians showed their concern over the security. Further, the research found that the LIS professionals are quite interested to use Cloud computing in library operation and services.
