This article describes the functioning of two discourse operators, one, c'est le cas de le dire 'it is worth saying', formed on the French verb dire 'to say' and the other, j'avoue, on the performative verb avouer 'to confess'. We provide a syntactic/semantic description and examine the possible reasons for blocking the appearance of one in place of the other, based on the following constraints: weakening of the act of confession, requirement of a negative polarity, a high degree and/or an exemplary situation. The article shows that the construction ce m'est avis functions as a discourse marker in an original corpus of 13th French prose novels. We adopt a double approach, phraseological and stylistic, to study how this marker performs in discursive sequences representing oral speech (characters' dialogue or narrator's words). The comparison with the construction que P (il/ce) m'est avis que allows us to note their common origin and then their progressive specialization. This article focusses on four idioms in French, namely mon dieu, mon doux, ma foi and my god. Their similarity of form and their belonging to the same semantic paradigm leads to the question of their possible semantic and functional equivalence in oral interactions. To answer this question, a careful examination of the collocates of these idioms is undertaken. Two proposals are formulated. On the one hand, there would be a contrast between the meanings expressed and the functions assumed by the idioms according to their purpose (retrospective with mon dieu, mon doux and my god, and prospective with ma foi). On the other hand, there would be a perfect semantic and functional symmetry between two of the retrospective idioms, namely mon dieu and mon doux in Quebec French, and a clear connection between the latter two and my god. Language is the common heritage of an entire population but the study of the geographical variation, that is the characteristic of the linguistic system to present differences in the space is interesting in numerous specialities and allows to list differences in the lexical systems of a language. This lexical variation is indexed in a significant number of metalinguistic works but, nevertheless, the theorization of the particular phenomena which affects expressions is quite incomplete and should be deepened. Recent works on synonymy and homonymy open up interesting perspectives for a new typology of these phenomena. This study aims to analyze the Fixed Verbal Constructions from Spanish present in a Database of 40,900 entries in order to deal with polysemy. We first analyze the polysemic FVC and their number of meanings in order to establish a typological classification. After that we make a comparison between the FVC of peninsular and common Spanish and Spanish from Hispano-America in order to observe the similarities and differences in the formation of these cases of polysemy, as well as a typological classification according of the area of use. In this article, we will demonstrate that the phraseology plays a major role in creating Mexicanisms. We will present in the first place two lexicological works which take positions on Mexican Spanish's status: "variation" or "language" in its own right. Then, we will demonstrate that most of mexicanisms are in a zone which includes the phraseology. We will show at the end that the mechanism of frozenness lies behind the Mexicanisms' creation. The prototype Diccionario de contextos de uso de fraseologismos that we will present will allow us to study the morphosyntactic, syntactico-semantic and pragmatic characteristics of the phraseological unities. This paper deals with the analysis of routine formulas according to their degree of independence in discourse, with the aim of establishing a gradual line which restructures Sphere III (Corpas 1996, Alvarado 2015) - where phraseological utterances belong. The system developed by Briz and the Val.Es.Co. Group (2003, 2014) will help us segment conversation and check that phraseological utterances show various degrees of independence, both in Peninsular Spanish and in Latin American Spanish, which will make it possible to restructure Sphere III. The methodology utilized corresponds to the phraseological and pragmatic approach, and the examples were extracted from the Corpus de Conversaciones Coloquiales of Briz and the Val.Es.Co. The aim of this paper is to propose a phraseological approach to humor in Spanish. Phraseological units will be analyzed as markers or indicators in accordance with a revised General Theory of Verbal Humor (Ruiz-Gurillo, 2012, 2013). A marker is a linguistic element which helps to understand humor; instead, an indicator is a per se humorous element. Thus, discursive marker idioms can be used as markers that infringe the prerequisite of Quality (Levinson, 2000; Rodríguez-Rosique, 2013), whereas routine formulas, specific utterances, phraseological schematas, etc., could behave as indicators. These phraseological indicators have to do not only with the infringement of the Manner Principle but also with that of the Informativity principle. En serio and es broma are analyzed as phraseological markers of humor. Routine formulas such as tus nietos no te olvidan, ¿¡qué vamos a hacer!?, ¡que me parta un rayo!, ¡me la suda! or ¡que os den!, specific utterances such as no somos nadie, el roce hace el cariño, idioms such as a buenas horas and phraseological schematas such as ni columna ni columno are proposed as phraseological indicators. First, we define the concept of pragmateme as a formula (prototypically multilexical and semantically compositional) restricted in his signified by the communication situation in which it is produced. Then, we briefly describe our dictionary of Spanish pragmatemes and, finally, we present pragmatemes variants in Spanish of the Río de la Plata, Mexico and Colombia. This paper describes, and presents a formal evaluation of, the Ontological Semantic approach to automatically analyzing multiword expressions. It shows how multiword expressions can be lexically recorded and processed in the same way as compositional argument-taking words. It suggests that the component modeling strategies are psychologically plausible and hold promise for supporting the development of sophisticated, language-endowed intelligent agents. Complex collocations are a type of collocation whose syntactic structure is more complex than that of simple collocations. Thus, they are binary standardized or frequent phrases whose components show a lexical restriction relationship. The complex character of its structure means that one of its components, the collocative, is not a lexical unit, but rather a fixed phrase. Most of them are adverbial, either in the case of verbal predicates (llover a cántaros) or adjectival predicates (loco de atar), although they can also — in less frequent cases — be adjectival, as when combined with a noun (dinero en efectivo), or also nominal, in combination with a verb (hacer un corte de mangas). Idioms are traditionally considered to be more or less fixed expressions, and limited variation is often admitted only on the basis of introspection. We report on a study of German verb phrase idioms based on a one billion word corpus. An extensive analysis of several hundred idioms and thousands of tokens reveals a surprising range of lexical, syntactic and morphological variation and shows that idioms are subject to the same grammatical rules as the literal language. A typical example is discussed in detail. Finally, we focus on a relatively neglected category, the determiner, and investigate its use in German verb phrase idioms. German definite articles can contract with many prepositions to form a single constituent. Lexical resources show citation forms of a number of idioms with the contracted form as a fixed component. But corpus data show that decontraction occurs in many idioms, both as a free variation and as a secondary effect of lexical variation, such as the insertion of adjectives between the proposition and the determiner.
