Abstract

The goals of this study were to investigate the membrane antigens of two new small cell lung cancer lines and the cytotoxic effect of the Workshop monoclonal antibodies. To analyse the first point, we used all the Workshop MoAbs in an immunofluorescent assay. The first line (LICR-OC1) carried only membrane antigens of cluster 4. The second line (LICR-OC2) showed a membrane antigenicity very similar to that of the NCI-H69 cell line. To study the second point, cells of three SCLC cell lines were incubated with non-IgG1 type MoAbs in the presence of either human or rabbit complement. The percentage of surviving cells was estimated using trypan blue exclusion test. Only 2 IgM MoAbs (27 and 45) were cytotoxic in the presence of human complement.
