This short communication presents that a thin sheet with 0.26 mm thickness of Mg rare earth alloy was prepared by rolling with 97.4% total reduction at room temperature. A deformation mode of continually dynamic micro-nanocrystallization (CDMN) dominated the plastic deformation process in which an extreme grain refinement could be observed. Porous structure Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C composite has been successfully prepared through a facile PVP-assisted sol-gel method, following by high temperature sintering. SEM and TEM results show that the Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C composite has a pore structure with a carbon coating of about 6 nm. In the voltage range of 3.0–4.5 V, discharge capacities of 130.3, 125.1, 118.3, 113.5 and 108.0 mAh g −1 can be delivered at 0.1, 1, 5, 10 and 20 C, respectively. Moreover, it exhibits discharge capacities of 130.4 and 177.8 mAh g −1 at 1 C in the voltage range of 3.0–4.8 V and 1.5–4.5 V, respectively. These results demonstrate that the rate capability and cyclability of Li 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 /C can be ameliorated by the porous structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Silver nanoparticles(Ag-NPs) are synthetized successfully by using leaf extract of eucalyptus. The Ag-NPs obtained are characterized by ultraviolet-visible (UV–vis) spectrometer, field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). FE-TEM analysis revealed the shape of those Ag-NPs being spherical morphologies, with the size range of 4–60 nm. FTIR spectrum assumed the polyphenols and proteins act as reducing and stabilizing agents in the synthesis of Ag-NPs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified vanadium teroxide (V 2 O 3 ) is synthesized by a solvothermal process followed with calcination treatment in a reducing atmosphere. The as-prepared hybrid materials were quite uniform and V 2 O 3 distributed homogeneously in the hybrid composite. The influence of annealing atmospheres to the electrochemical performance of the electrode material was also studied. As an anode material for lithium ion batteries, the V 2 O 3 –rGO composite exhibited higher capacity and better cyclic stability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
