Cationic methylene blue (MB) was intercalated into layered semiconductor KLaNb 2 O 7 for the first time by the ion-exchange method. MB + forms an inclined monolayer between LaNb 2 O 7 − nanosheets and the nanocomposite exhibited a pair of characteristic redox peaks of MB + cation. The nanocomposite was proved to be capable of immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOD) and facilitate catalytic activities of GOD. The MB + –LaNb 2 O 7 /GOD/CTS/GCE biosensor we constructed showed high electrochemical catalytic activities towards oxidation of glucose with the existence of oxygen. The biosensor had a linear range on detection of glucose from 2.5×10 −5 M to 2.83×10 −3 M and a detection limit of 2.0×10 −5 M. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MnTMPyP–Ti 4 O 9 nanocomposite was prepared by the direct coassembly of oppositely charged building blocks, exfoliated titanate nanosheets and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl) porphyrinato manganese(III), MnTMPyP cations. XRD, IR, SEM, and TEM revealed that Mn porphyrin has been successfully inserted into the lamellar spacing of layered titanate. The metalloporphyrin molecules incorporated within the nanocomposite were found to be tilted approximately 42° against the titanate nanosheets. Further, the obtained MnTMPyP–Ti 4 O 9 nanocomposite has been examined for the electrochemical detection of nitrite using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry techniques. • Polyaniline nanobelts were prepared by low temperature induced polymerization. • Temperature and p-phenylenediamine are key factors in generating nanobelts. • The mixing degree of raw materials highly affects the uniformity of nanobelts. • The specific capacitance increased by 25.7% after adding p-phenylenediamine. Polyaniline (PANI) nanobelts were successfully synthesized by a low temperature induced polymerization method. Morphology results confirmed that p-phenylenediamine and low temperature were vital for the formation of PANI nanobelts. Comparative study between a rotating packed bed (RPB) and a stirring tank reactor demonstrated that high mixing degree of raw materials was beneficial for the growth of uniformly shaped PANI nanobelts. Electrochemical analysis revealed that the PANI nanobelts obtained in RPB possessed a specific capacitance of 304.4F/g at 0.5 A/g and a capacitance retention of 40.65% after 1000 cycles, respectively. • Flower like hollow Bi 2 WO 6 was in-situ grown on the surface of reduced graphene oxide. • The 3D structural hybrid was synthesized through a one-pot hydrothermal process. • The obtained hybrid showed improved photoactivity than pristine Bi 2 WO 6. • Facile photoelectrochemical sensor for diethylstilbestrol detection was developed. Flower-like hollow Bi 2 WO 6 (FHBWO) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and in-situ grown on the surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) to form a 3D structural FHBWO/RGO hybrid through a one-pot hydrothermal process. The obtained nanocomposites showed greatly improved photoactivity than pristine Bi 2 WO 6. The photocurrent was 9 times enhanced because of the effectively accelerated electron transfer due to the adding of RGO. However, when diethylstilbestrol (DES) was added, the DES molecules would be absorbed onto the FHBWO/RGO surface, which could hinder the electron-transfer character greatly and resulted in the recombination of photo-generated holes and electrons leading to a prominent decrease in the photocurrent. Based on its outstanding photoelectrochemical (PEC) response and the inhibition effect of DES, a facile PEC sensor for the detection of DES was successfully developed in the concentration range from 0.1 pM to 1200 pM.
