Abstract: Batch and setup times are two important factors in practical job shop scheduling. This paper proposes a method to model job shop scheduling problems including batches and anticipatory sequence-dependent setup times by timed Petri nets. The general modeling method is formally presented. The free choice property of the model is proved. A case study extracted from practical scheduling is given to show the feasibility of the modeling method. Comparison with some previous work shows that our model is more compact and effective in finding the best solution. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: We address the problem of board-level multiterminal net assignment in FPGA-based logic emulation. We present a novel mathematical model for this problem. A powerful metaheuristic approach, called scatter search, is adopted. Effective heuristics are incorporated for accelerating the optimization search process. Abstract: Cell assignment is an important task in the design of personal communication services networks. We present a stochastic approach for solving the problem. The method consists of an expected value programming and a chance-constrained programming. We show that the expected value programming model is equivalent to the existing deterministic models. However, the chance-constrained programming model is more precise and flexible. A hybrid intelligent algorithm is proposed for the CCP model. Abstract: PLC is widely used in the field of automatic control. To use formal methods to verify the correctness of PLC programs, semantic characterization of PLC programs are needed. Based on the extended -calculus definition, this paper presents a novel semantic modeling of PLC programs. Abstract: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are widely used in industry. Reliable PLC systems are vital to many critical applications. The reliability analysis of PLC is special because the hardware component and embedded software are combined and operated in a specific manner. This paper presents a probabilistic modeling for PLC systems, which considers both the hardware and software components. Three analysis strategies are proposed for probabilistic evaluation of reliability characterization. The first method is an input-based analysis which considers the impact of errors from primary inputs. The second one is an action-based analysis. It extends the first method by considering the impact of software-based processing deviations on primary inputs. The third method is an action-traverse analysis. It computes the reliability characterization in a single topological traverse through the primary inputs during the software execution. Abstract: This paper considers a novel fault diagnosis mechanism for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Without additional agents, the built-in and self-organized diagnosis mechanism can monitor each node in real time and identify faulty nodes. As the diagnosis is operated within a cluster of nodes, it can reduce power consumption and communication traffic. We present a modeling of the diagnosis algorithm for WSNs, with a probabilistic analysis of the local and global performances of our approach.
