The methodology and results of parametric studies of vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs) based on three-dimensional aerodynamic calculations are presented. For a model wind turbine with three twisted blades, the dependence of the torque on the wind speed, the speed of rotation of the turbine, and on the variation of geometric parameters that determine the design of the turbine is studied. We propose a new explicit-iterative scheme for time integrating the multidimensional Navier–Stokes equations of a compressible environment through splitting into convective and diffusive stages, which are performed sequentially at each time step. The convective stage is implemented using the Godunov scheme; and the diffusive stage, using the Chebyshev explicit-iterative LI-M scheme, which has no restriction on the time step. The resulting scheme ensures that the basic conservation laws hold on arbitrary irregular grids. An adaptive Chebyshev iterative method used to solve boundary-value problems for three-dimensional elliptic equations numerically is constructed. In this adaptive method, the unknown lower bound of the spectrum of the discrete operator is refined in the additional iteration cycle, and the upper bound of the spectrum is taken to be its estimate by the Gershgorin theorem. Such a procedure ensures the convergence of the constructed adaptive method with the computational costs close to the costs of the standard Chebyshev method, which uses the exact bounds of the spectrum of the discrete operator. In this paper, we present a methodology for the numerical simulation of the reacting flows of multicomponent fluid mixtures in a scramjet combustor based on solving the Navier-Stokes equation system. The combustion dynamics depending on the oxidizer's oxidation ratio is studied, and the methodology of the numerical simulation on the multiprocessor supercomputer K-100 is developed using OpenFOAM.
