Multi objective programming problems have been widely applied to various engineering areas which include optimal design of an automotive engine, economics, and military strategies. In this paper, we propose a noninterior path following algorithm to solve a class of multi objective programming problems. Under suitable conditions, a smooth path will be proven to exist. This can give a constructive proof of the existence of solutions and lead to an implementable globally convergent algorithm. This paper presents an original and efficient PSO algorithm, which is divided into three phases: (1) stabilization, (2) breadth-first search, and (3) depth-first search. The proposed algorithm, called PSO-3P, was tested with 47 benchmark continuous unconstrained optimization problems, on a total of 82 instances. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm is able to reach the global optimum. This work mainly focuses on unconstrained optimization problems from 2 to 1,000 variables. Abstract
In the development of large and complex equipment, a large-scale finite element analysis (FEA) with high efficiency is often strongly required. This paper provides some progress on parallel solution of large-scale modal and vibration FE problems. Some predominant algorithms for modal and vibration analysis are firstly reviewed and studied. Based on the newly developed JAUMIN framework, the corresponding procedures are developed and integrated to form a parallel modal and vibration solution system; the details of parallel implementation are given. Numerical experiments are carried out to evaluate the parallel scalability of our procedures, and the results show that the maximum solution scale attains ninety million degrees of freedom (DOFs) and the maximum parallel CPU processors attain 8192 with favorable computing efficiency. This paper examines the local container drayage problem under a special operation mode in which tractors and trailers can be separated; that is, tractors can be assigned to a new task at another location while trailers with containers are waiting for packing or unpacking. Meanwhile, the strategy of sharing empty containers between different customers is also considered to improve the efficiency and lower the operation cost. The problem is formulated as a vehicle routing and scheduling problem with temporal constraints. We adopt combinatorial benders’ cuts algorithm to solve this problem.
