China's policies about reducing carbon emissions mainly focus on saving energy and reducing pollutant emissions. However, the carbon emissions of the logistics industry remain high. Thus, logistics companies should not only reduce distribution costs, but also consider the impact of carbon emissions when planning distribution routes. This paper studies the supermarket delivery distribution route planning problem considering carbon emissions. Aiming at the lowest economic operating cost composed of fixed cost, driving cost, and carbon emission cost, we propose a grey wolf optimized genetic algorithm to generate delivery route plans, where the social rank and hunting behavior of the grey wolf optimization algorithm are integrated into the selection operation of the genetic algorithm. Finally, a real case of a large third-party logistics enterprise in Beijing is studied. The case study results verify the effectiveness and applicability of the model and algorithm. With the continuous development of the Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system in high-speed railways, automatic driving is progressively supplanting manual operations, ushering in a new era of predictability and reliability for high-speed railway transport. Concurrently, the advent of the ATO system provides a notable impact on real-time rescheduling during disruptions, as it equips dispatchers with precise insights into train operation statuses. This paper is dedicated to a thorough analysis of how the transition to automatic driving in train operations influences the real-time rescheduling model. Based on the distinctive impact of the ATO system on real-time rescheduling, we have proposed a mixed-integer linear programming model that combines train re-timing, reordering, and the minimization of passenger delays. To validate the effectiveness of our model, we present several experiments conducted using data from the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway line. The results unequivocally demonstrate that our ATO-based model significantly mitigates train delay time, demonstrating its practical value in optimizing high-speed railway operations. The predictions from time series data can help us sense development trends and make scientific decisions in advance. The commonly used forecasting methods with backpropagation consume a lot of computational resources. The deep echo state network (DeepESN) is an advanced prediction method with a deep neural network structure and training algorithm without backpropagation. In this paper, a Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) is proposed to optimize DeepESN to address the problem of increasing parameter scale. Firstly, the DeepESN was studied and constructed as the basic prediction model for the time series data. Secondly, the BOA was reconstructed, based on the DeepESN, for optimal parameter searching. The algorithm is proposed within the framework of the DeepESN. Thirdly, an experiment was conducted to verify the DeepESN with a BOA within three datasets: simulation data generated from computer programs, a real humidity dataset collected from Beijing, and a power load dataset obtained from America. Compared with the models of BP (backpropagation), LSTM (long short-term memory), GRU (gated recurrent unit), and ESN (echo state network), DeepESN obtained optimal results, which were 0.0719, 18.6707, and 764.5281 using RMSE evaluation. While getting better accuracy, the BOA optimization time was only 323.4 s, 563.2 s, and 9854 s for the three datasets. It is more efficient than grid search and grey wolf optimizer. With the rapid development of urbanization, the metro becomes more and more important for people's travel in big cities. To quantitatively describe metro passenger flows on congested transfer routes, this paper introduces a dynamic model based on automated data from the automatic fare collection (AFC) and automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems. An expectation maximization (EM) algorithm is proposed to compute the maximum likelihood estimates of unknown parameters in our model. Our model can yield a systematic analysis of one-transfer passenger flows on both population and individual aspects. Important characteristics, including transfer time, boarding probabilities, walking time, passenger-to-train assignment probabilities, and total travel time, can be inferred using only the AFC and AVL data. We provide a case study on the Beijing metro. Detailed analysis results based on our model are given. We also present a cross-validation method to validate our model with real data. Air quality plays a vital role in people's health, and air quality forecasting can assist in decision making for government planning and sustainable development. In contrast, it is challenging to multi-step forecast accurately due to its complex and nonlinear caused by both temporal and spatial dimensions. Deep models, with their ability to model strong nonlinearities, have become the primary methods for air quality forecasting. However, because of the lack of mechanism-based analysis, uninterpretability forecasting makes decisions risky, especially when the government makes decisions. This paper proposes an interpretable variational Bayesian deep learning model with information self-screening for PM2.5 forecasting. Firstly, based on factors related to PM2.5 concentration, e.g., temperature, humidity, wind speed, spatial distribution, etc., an interpretable multivariate data screening structure for PM2.5 forecasting was established to catch as much helpful information as possible. Secondly, the self-screening layer was implanted in the deep learning network to optimize the selection of input variables. Further, following implantation of the screening layer, a variational Bayesian gated recurrent unit (GRU) network was constructed to overcome the complex distribution of PM2.5 and achieve accurate multi-step forecasting. The high accuracy of the proposed method is verified by PM2.5 data in Beijing, China, which provides an effective way, with multiple factors for PM2.5 forecasting determined using deep learning technology. The cutterhead torque and thrust, reflecting the obstruction degree of the geological environment and the behavior of excavation, are the key operating parameters for the tunneling of tunnel boring machines (TBMs). In this paper, a hybrid hidden Markov model (HMM) combined with ensemble learning is proposed to predict the value intervals of the cutterhead torque and thrust based on the historical tunneling data. First, the target variables are encoded into discrete states by means of HMM. Then, ensemble learning models including AdaBoost, random forest (RF), and extreme random tree (ERT) are employed to predict the discrete states. On this basis, the performances of those models are compared under different forms of the same input parameters. Moreover, to further validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, two excavation datasets including Beijing and Zhengzhou from the actual project under different geological conditions are utilized for comparison. The results show that the ERT outperforms the other models and the corresponding prediction accuracies are up to 0.93 and 0.99 for the cutterhead torque and thrust, respectively. Therefore, the ERT combined with HMM can be used as a valuable prediction tool for predicting the cutterhead torque and thrust, which is of positive significance to alert the operator to judge whether the excavation is normal and assist the intelligent tunneling.
