To study the clinical effects of Diding Oral Medicine as an alternative to preventative antibiotics in perioperative hemorrhoids. From August 2017 to February 2018, a total of 214 patients who were treated with external exfoliation and internal ligation of mixed hemorrhoids in our hospital were divided into the control group and experimental group by way of stratified random (107 cases in each group). Patients in the control group were given antibiotics preventatively before operation, while patients in the experimental group took Diding Oral Medicine before operation, and the white blood cell count, neutrophil count, wound recovery, pain score, anal bulge score, and pathogen culture of wound secretions were compared between the 2 groups. There was no significant difference in white blood cell count and neutrophil count between both groups before and after operation (P > .05). The associations of the risk of lung cancer with the vitamin D intake and serum level are controversial. We performed a comprehensive dose-response meta-analysis to evaluate the precise relationships between the above mentioned parameters. We performed a web search of the PubMed, Medline, and Embase databases to identify potential studies that evaluated the relationships between vitamin D intake or serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25([OH]D) levels and the risk of lung cancer on December 5, 2017. According to the inclusion and exclusive criteria, 16 studies were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the strength of the associations. A dose-response analysis was conducted to quantitate the relationship between the serum 25(OH)D or vitamin D intake and the risk of lung cancer. The pooled RR (highest level vs lowest level) showed that the serum 25(OH)D level was not associated with the risk of lung cancer (RR = 1.046, 95% CI = 0.945–1.159). A high vitamin D intake was inversely correlated with the lung cancer risk (RR = 0.854, 95% CI = 0.741–0.984). No significant dose-response relationship was observed between the serum 25(OH)D level and the lung cancer risk. The linearity model of the dose-response analysis indicated that with every 100 IU/day increase in vitamin D intake, the risk of lung cancer decreased by 2.4% (RR = 0.976, 95% CI = 0.957–0.995, P = .018). A high vitamin D intake provides limited protection against lung cancer carcinogenesis.

This study investigated the effects of age and gender on the prevalence of cholelithiasis in patients with chronic HCV infection. Demographic and clinical data of 8489 subjects (3671 males, 4818 females; mean age 47.5 years) receiving township-wide health examinations between September 2012 and August 2013 were analyzed. The main endpoint was prevalence of cholelithiasis. Risk factors (age, gender, body mass index, concomitant diseases, lifestyle, laboratory parameters, and HCV status) were evaluated. A community-based study was performed to assess sex, age, body mass index, the lipid profile, blood pressure, glucose, alanine aminotransferase, HBV surface antigen (HBsAg), and HCV antibody levels, smoking and alcohol drinking habits, and cardiometabolic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular events, and renal diseases. The HCV-RNA level and genotype were further assessed in HCV antibody-positive subjects, and the hepatitis B e antigen and HBV-DNA levels were further examined in HBsAg-positive subjects. Among the 10,959 adults enrolled, 1949 (17.8%) and 1536 (14.0%) were HBV and HCV-infected, respectively. Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that the lipid profile and hypertension were independently associated with HCV infection (95% confidence intervals of odds ratios [OR 95% CI]: total cholesterol [TC] = 0.508–0.677; triglycerides = 0.496–0.728; hypertension = 0.669–0.937), but not with HBV infection. Consistently, HCV, but not HBV infection, was negatively associated with the TC and triglyceride levels (OR 95% CI for TC: 0.450–0.601; triglycerides: 0.443–0.671).
