Regardless of unique status or symptoms, any woman with endometriosis is at risk of developing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective psychological treatment for depression, anxiety, and stress. The objectives of the study were to see whether usual care combined with CBT improves depression, anxiety, and stress in patients after surgery for endometriosis as compared to usual care alone.Patients aged 18 to 50 years old with endometriosis who were scheduled for surgery were received usual care (Chinese martial arts) with CBT (1 pre-surgery and 6 post-surgery CBT sessions; Case or Intervention group, n = 48) or usual care only (Control group, n = 48). The demographic characteristics questionnaire was given to all individuals. Depression, anxiety, and stress were evaluated at baseline (within 24 hours after admission to the hospital) and postintervention (immediately before discharged) in both groups using the Chinese short version of Depression Anxiety and Stress scale (DASS-21).At postintervention DASS-21 scores for depression, anxiety, and stress of the case group and the control group were decreased as compared to baseline (P .0001 for all). At postintervention DASS-21 score for anxiety of the case group was decreased compared to the control group (P = .0091). Usual care plus CBT significantly increased the number of females with no symptoms of depression as compared to baseline at postintervention(s) (P = .0356). At postintervention(s), there was no female with extremely severe depression in both groups. Usual care plus CBT significantly decreased the number of females with symptoms of extremely severe anxiety as compared to baseline at postintervention(s) (P = .035). Unlike the control group, in the case group, there were no females with extremely severe stress at postintervention.females with endometriosis who had surgery reported high levels of depression, anxiety, and stress at the time of hospital admission. Patients with endometriosis can benefit from CBT.

This retrospective study investigated the effects of fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) as an adjunctive management to parecoxib for pain control after total hip arthroplasty (THA).A total of 72 patient records of THA were included in this retrospective study. All patients received parecoxib and were allocated to either the treatment group (n = 36) or the control group (n = 36). In addition, patients in the treatment group underwent FICB. The primary outcome was pain intensity measured using a resting and moving visual analog scales (VASs). The secondary outcomes were inflammatory factors (interleukin 6 and C-reactive protein) and occurrence rate of adverse events.Patients in the treatment group had better outcomes in the resting VAS (12 hours, P.01; 24 hours, P.01; 36 hours, P = .01; 72 hours, P = .03), moving VAS (12 hours, P.01; 24 hours, P.01; 36 hours, P = .02; 72 hours, P = .02), serum interleukin 6 (P.01), and C-reactive protein (P.01) than those in the control group at different time points. In addition, there were no significant differences in the occurrence rate of adverse events.The findings of this study demonstrated that the effects of FICB as an adjunctive management to parecoxib are superior to those of parecoxib alone for pain control after THA.

The role of thoracic stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in addition to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in EGFR-mutant polymetastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been well established. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EGFR-TKIs with thoracic SBRT for the treatment of this patient group. Polymetastatic NSCLC was defined as having >5 metastatic lesions. Patients with polymetastatic NSCLC harboring positive EGFR mutations after initial TKI therapy for at least 8 weeks were eligible for SBRT between August 2016and August 2019. Eligible patients were treated with thoracic SBRT, and TKIs were administered for the duration of SBRT and continued after SBRT until they were considered ineffective. The control group was treated with TKI monotherapy. Propensity score matching (ratio of 1:4) was used to account for differences in baseline characteristics. Progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival, and treatment safety were evaluated. In total, 136 patients were included in the study population. Among them, 120 patients received TKIs alone, and 16 patients received TKIs with thoracic SBRT. The baseline characteristics did not significantly differ between the two cohorts after propensity score matching. The median PFS was 17.8 months in the thoracic SBRT group and 10.8 months in the control group (P = .033). In the multivariate analysis, a Cox regression model showed that thoracic SBRT was an independent statistically significant positive predictor of improved survival, with a hazard ratio of 0.54 (P = .046). We recorded no severe toxic effects or grade 4 to 5 toxicities. Real-world data demonstrate that thoracic SBRT significantly extends PFS in EGFR-mutant polymetastatic NSCLC patients with tolerable toxicity. Given these results, randomized studies are warranted.

Background: The arrival of transcatheter mitral valve therapies has provided feasible and safe alternatives to medical and surgical treatments for mitral regurgitation. The aim of this study is to estimate the relative efficacy and safety of exercise training in patients with corrected tetralogy of Fallot through meta-analysis. Methods : A systematic search will be performed using PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CBM, CNKI, WanFang Data, and VIP to include random controlled trials or nonrandom controlled trials comparing the efficacy and safety of exercise training in corrected tetralogy of Fallot patients. The risk of bias for the included nonrandom controlled studies will be evaluated according to Risk of Bias in Nonrandomized Studies of Interventions. We will use the Cochrane Collaboration's tool (version 2 of the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials) to assess risk of bias of included random controlled trials. Revman 5.4 and STATA 15.0 will be used to complete the meta-analysis and generate forest plots. Grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation will be used to assess the quality of evidence. Results : The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. Conclusion : This study will provide broad evidence of efficacy and safety of exercise training in patients with corrected tetralogy of Fallot and provide suggestions for clinical practice and future research. Primary pleural angiosarcoma (PPA) is an extremely rare malignancy for which there is no consensus on treatment. The clinical course of PPA is usually quickly fatal, regardless of the treatment used.We summarized and evaluated a relatively large population of published PPA cases to assess prognostic factors, diagnostic approaches, treatment methods and clinical outcomes. Using the CNKI, Embase, and PubMed databases, literature published in English and Chinese from 1988 through 2020 was searched using the terms "primary pleural angiosarcoma," "pleural angiosarcoma," and "pleuropulmonary angiosarcoma."A total of 43 patients with PPA were identified in retrospective case series and case reports. The median age at diagnosis was 64 years (range 24-87 years), and the median overall survival was 4 months (range 0.1-180 months). Approximately 80% of patients died from PPA within 10 months of diagnosis, and the 2-year survival rate was approximately 4.4%. In univariate analyses, the presence of pleural effusion and hemothorax were significant predictors of decreased survival, with hazard ratios (HRs) of 2.7 (P = .04) and 3.3 (P = .006), respectively. Sixteen patients received no therapy, and their prognosis was worse than patients who did receive therapy (P = .019). Radiation therapy improved survival more than no radiation therapy (P = .007). Patients appeared to derive clinical benefit from chemotherapy (P = .048). However, tumor resection did not seem to provide a survival benefit (P = .051). In multivariate analysis, tumor resection, and radiation were independent, statistically significant, positive predictors of better survival, with HRs of 0.3 (P = .017) and 0.1 (P = .006), respectively. The presence of hemothorax was an independent predictor of worse prognosis (P = .006).Primary angiosarcoma of the pleura is a rare, poorly understood malignancy with a poor prognosis; hence, the clinical spectrum of PPA is not completely defined. By multivariate analysis, this retrospective study showed a survival benefit of tumor resection or radiation therapy, and the presence of hemothorax was a significant prognostic factor for poor outcomes.

The platelet-albumin-bilirubin (PALBI) grade plays critical role in evaluating liver function. However, the change of PALBI grade from the preoperative to postoperative period in predicting patient outcomes after hepatectomy remains unclear. A total of 489 HCC patients who underwent hepatectomy in West China Hospital between January, 2010 and June, 2016 were analyzed retrospectively.ΔPALBI grade was calculated by PALBI grade at the first postoperative month - preoperative PALBI grade.ΔPALBI >0 was considered as stable; otherwise, worse PALBI grade was considered. Kaplan– Meier method and Cox proportional hazard regression analyses were performed for survival analysis. Prognostic model was constructed by nomogram method. Three hundred forty two patients and 147 patients were classified into training group and validation group, respectively. Rationale Primary pleural angiosarcoma (PPA) is an extremely rare malignancy for which there is no consensus on treatment. The clinical course of PPA is usually quickly fatal, regardless of the treatment used. Patient concerns We describe the rare case of a 52-year-old man who presented initially with hemoptysis and received emergency surgery for the primary. Diagnoses He received a confirmed diagnosis of primary pleural angiosarcoma (PPA) by postoperative pathology and was subsequently treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but had failed and was intolerant to chemotherapy. Interventions The patient had 5% tumor PD-L1 positivity with 22C3 pharmDx and received pembrolizumab (200 mg every 21 days) for 13 cycles. Outcomes The disease remained well controlled according to the RECIST 1.1. criteria. He is currently under observation and waiting to start the next cycle of immunotherapy. Lesson Our case report suggests that the use of anti-PD-1 therapy does show efficacy in the treatment of PPA and may provide a viable treatment option for patients.

Background: Awake fiberoptic endoscope intubation (AFOI) is the primary strategy for managing anticipated difficult airways. Adequate sedation, most commonly being achieved with remifentanil and dexmedetomidine, is integral to this procedure. This meta-analysis aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of these 2 sedatives. Methods: We conducted electronic searches in Embase, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, Medline, Springer, and Web of Science with no language restrictions. Studies comparing safety and efficacy between the sole use of remifentanil and dexmedetomidine among patients who underwent AFOI were included. Eight randomized controlled trials, comprising 412 patients, met the inclusion criteria. The primary outcomes were first attempt intubation success rate and incidence of hypoxia. The secondary outcomes were the Ramsay Sedation Scale score at intubation, memory recall of endoscopy, and unstable hemodynamic parameters during intubation. Results: Dexmedetomidine significantly reduced the incidence of hypoxemia during AFOI (risk ratio: 2.47; 95% confidence [CI]: 1.32–4.64]) compared with remifentanil; however, the first intubation success rates were equivalent (risk ratio: 1.12; 95% CI: 0.87–1.46]. No significant differences between the 2 sedatives were found for the Ramsay Sedation Scale score at intubation (mean difference: −0.14; 95% CI: −0.66–0.38) or unstable hemodynamic parameters during intubation (risk ratio: 0.83; 95% CI: 0.59–1.17). Dexmedetomidine reduced memory recall of endoscopy (risk ratio: 1.39; 95% CI: 1.13–1.72). Conclusions: While both remifentanil and dexmedetomidine are effective for AFOI and well-tolerated, dexmedetomidine may be more effective in reducing the incidence of hypoxemia and memory recall of endoscopy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between pathologic complete response (pCR) and changes in background parenchymal enhancement (BPE) levels in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer and who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The pre- and post-NAC magnetic resonance imaging results of 51 patients with confirmed unilateral HER2-positive breast cancer were retrospectively analyzed by 2 experienced radiologists. Pre- and post-NAC of contralateral BPE levels were classified into 4 categories (1 = minimal, 2 = mild, 3 = moderate, and 4 = marked). The 4 categories of BPE were defined by the visually estimated enhancement of fibroglandular tissue of the breast. Changes in BPE before and after NAC were compared between the premenopausal and postmenopausal groups and between the pCR and non-pCR groups. The associations between BPE and pCR and between BPE and tumor size were analyzed before and after NAC. Twenty-three patients achieved pCR, and 28 patients achieved non-pCR. Premenopausal patients had significantly higher baseline BPE levels than postmenopausal women (P = .023). The post-NAC BPE levels of premenopausal patients significantly decreased relative to those of postmenopausal patients (P = .027). The baseline BPE levels of the pCR group were not significantly different from those of the non-pCR group (P = .892). Introduction: The typical manifestations of patients with a trisomy 21 syndrome are mental retardation and anatomical deformities of face and neck. In the available literature, all case reports regarding anesthetic management of mentally retarded patients have focused on elective surgeries. There is no report regarding anesthetic management of mentally retarded patients undergoing emergency surgery. Patient concerns: A 47-year-old woman with a mental retardation grade 2 by trisomy 21 syndrome suffered from an esophageal foreign body for 3 days and needed emergency removal of esophageal foreign body. The patient had a poor cooperation and obvious anatomical abnormalities of head and neck. Diagnoses: Difficult anesthesia and airway managements for emergency removal of esophageal foreign bodies in a trisomy 21patients with mental retardation and predicted difficult airways. Interventions: Combined use of an intubating supraglottic airway and the flexible bronchoscope-guided intubation after intravenous anesthesia induction. Outcomes: Effective airway was safely established and an esophageal foreign body was successfully removed by rigid esophagoscopy under anesthesia. The patient recovered smoothly without any complication. Lessons subsections as per style: When general anesthesia and emergency airway management are required in the patients with mental retardation and predicted difficult airways, a combination of the supraglottic airway and the flexible bronchoscope maybe a safe and useful choice for airway control.

Introduction: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) has been an important public health concern worldwide, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Unfortunately, the effect of current measures on preventing and controlling HFMD may be limited. Isolation of infectious sources is reported as an important way to prevent and control this disease. The isolation period is determined on the basis of duration of viral shedding in patients with HFMD. However, the results of previous researches on duration of viral shedding remain controversial. Here, we present a protocol of a systematic review and single-arm meta-analysis for assessing the duration of viral shedding in patients with HFMD induced by Enterovirus 71 (EV71), Coxsackievirus A16 (CA16), or Coxsackievirus A6 (CA6). Methods and analysis: A comprehensive literature search will be performed in PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and Wanfang Database, covering the period from inception to May 1, 2019. Point estimate of positive rate with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of EV71, CA16, or CA6 in HFMD patients’ fecal or throat samples will be carried out using STATA 14.0. Subgroup analyses will be performed for mild cases, severe cases, and close contacts. Sensitive analysis will also be performed to evaluate the influences of individual studies on the final effect by exclusion of a few articles of poor quality. We will assess the risk of bias for the final studies included in our meta-analysis using previously available tools and the modified risk of bias tool. Results: The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this paper will be the first systematic review and meta-analysis for assessing the duration of viral shedding in patients with HFMD induced by EV71, CA16, or CA6. The conclusions drawn from this review will provide the scientific basis to formulate the isolation period of HFMD. Ethics and dissemination: Ethical review is not required as this article is for a systematic review since there is no direct involvement of patients in the whole process. Background Adenomyosis is benign gynecologic condition with complex etiologies. Common symptoms associated with adenomyosis (AM) include menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain, metrorrhagia, and dyspareunia. Although Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has often been utilized for managing AM in clinical practice in China, evidence regarding its efficacy is lacking. This systematic review protocol aims to describe a systematic review to assess the effectiveness and safety of CHM combined with Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system for AM. Methods The following 7 databases will be searched from the publishment to December 2019: the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Digital Periodicals (WAN FANG), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP). The primary outcomes will be relief in pain and uterine bleeding. The secondary outcomes include the adverse effects, CA125 variation in peripheral blood, reduction in uterine volume, and endometrial thickness. We will use RevMan V.5.3 to conduct the meta-analysis, if possible. If it is not allowed, a descriptive analysis will be conducted. We will use risk ratio with 95% confidence interval for dichotomous data and the mean difference for continuous data. Results This study will provide the latest analysis of the currently available evidence for the efficacy of the adjuvant therapy of CHM for the treatment of AM. To assess the prevalence and causes of visual impairment (VI) in the elderly Chinese rural population in Shaanxi Province.A population-based, cross-sectional study design was used to determine the extent of VI in Chinese people over the age of 50 years in Shaanxi Province. Visual acuity and best-corrected visual acuity were measured using the logarithm of minimum angle of resolution chart. Blindness and low vision were defined according to WHO criteria. The major cause of VI was identified for all participants who were visually impaired.A total of 1912 residents completed a standard questionnaire and underwent a detailed eye examination, and the response rate was 90%. The overall prevalence of blindness and low vision were 1.5% and 8.2%. There was no statistically significant differences between genders in the prevalence of blindness and low vision (P > .05). The prevalence of blindness and low vision was higher among older individuals (P < .05) and lower (P < .05) among those with the highest education level. Cataract, corneal opacity, and glaucoma were considered as the main causes of blindness, which accounted for 67.9%, 10.7%, and 7.1%, respectively. Cataract, refractive error, and age-related macular degeneration were always considered as the leading causes of low vision, which accounted for 66%, 14.7%, and 5.8%, respectively.Cataract, corneal opacity, and glaucoma were the main causes of blindness and low vision in the population aged 50 years or more. The prevalence of these diseases that causes blindness and low vision was higher than that reported in other studies.

Introduction: Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common form of primary cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Narrowband ultraviolet B light (NBUVB) is used increasingly in treating MF because of its good toleration and well-established management. Concerns: To discuss the risk factors and underlying pathogenic factors in the patients with secondary skin diseases after NBUVB therapy. Methods: We report in details the first case of a patient with MF accompanied with actinic keratosis (AK), AK with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) transformation and porokeratosis after NBUVB therapy. Meanwhile, Sequence variants in tumor suppressor p53 gene in the patient's specimens were detected. A literature search of the key word “narrowband ultraviolet B light ”and “side effects” was performed on PubMed, 14 cases of this entity were found. A total of 15 patients including our case were reviewed in this study and meaningful conclusion could be drawn. Outcomes: The mean age at diagnosis of secondary skin dermatoses after NBUVB therapy was 62.08 years with a male to female ratio of 2:1. The cases were reported more in Europeans than in Asians (2.75:1), and the Fitzpatrick skin type was mainly Ito III (12/15). The mean cumulative number and cumulative dose of UVB treatments were 43.71 and 42, 400 (mJ/cm2), respectively. There was a positive relationship between Fitzpatrick skin type and cumulative dose of UVB treatments. Among the secondary skin diseases after NBUVB treatment, 12 were tumors, 2 were non-tumorous dermatoses. Only our patient presented with both. By polymerase chain reaction-single nucleotide polymorphism (PCR-SNP) analysis, C–G mutation of exon 4 of p53 was found in AK and MF specimens in our patient. Conclusion: To our knowledge, our case is the first MF patient accompanied with AK, AK with SCC transformation and Porokeratosis after NBUVB treatment. Lower Fitzpatrick skin type may be the risk factor of secondary skin diseases after NBUVB treatment.

Rationale: The differential diagnosis of conditions manifesting as bone and joint pain is complex. Although many individuals with acute leukemia experience bone pain, lumbosacral pain as an early feature of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is rare. Patient concerns: Here we report a case of an adult who presented with a 7-month history of persistent lumbosacral pain which had become more severe during the previous month. Diagnoses: Prior to referral, his full blood count revealed no abnormalities, and a computerized tomography scan revealed mild bone hyperplasia of his lumbar vertebrae, with disc herniations of L3–S1. His blood biochemistry and urinary test results had been normal. After referral to our clinic, tests of the morphology, immunology, cytogenetics, and molecular biology of his bone marrow led to a diagnosis of MLL-AF4 fusion positive B-cell ALL. Interventions: Prior to his referral, he had been treated with painkillers by local doctors. The painkillers initially provided pain relief, but their effect wore off over time. After diagnosis, he was started on an adult ALL chemotherapy protocol. Outcomes: His symptoms resolved within a week of starting chemotherapy. At his most recent assessment, 10 months after diagnosis, he was on maintenance chemotherapy and in remission. Lessons: This case illustrates that prolonged lumbosacral pain may be a symptom of a life-threatening condition, rather than only attributable to chronic inflammation or disk herniations. Therefore, clinicians need to pay attention to subtle differences in the clinical presentation of patients with lumbosacral pain.

Methods: Comparing HDDT to BQT were identified from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, CNKI, and Wanfang databases in Chinese up to March 2018. Statistical analyses were conducted using Review Manager 5.3 to compare the efficacy and side effects of these 2 therapies for H pylori infection. Dichotomous data were pooled to score the relative risk (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Four randomized clinical trials (RCTs) including 829 patients with a diagnosis of H pylori infection were assessed. Overall the meta-analysis showed that both HDDT and BQT achieved similar efficacy of intention-to-treat (ITT) eradication rate, 85.5% versus 87.2%, RR 1.01 (95% CI: 0.96–1.06), P = .63, and of per-protocol (PP) eradication rate, 88.4% versus 91.5%, RR 1.00 (95% CI: 0.96–1.04), P = .99, and adherence 97.8% versus 95.0%, RR 1.01 (95% CI: 0.99–1.04), P = .32, but side effects were more likely in BQT (14.4% vs 40.4%, RR 0.42 (95% CI: 0.32–0.54), P

Although the association of the psychological problems and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) gained the increasing attention, the psychosocial state in college students with AGA remains unknown. We recruited a total number of 355 college students with AGA from 18 universities in Southern China for interview. The Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R) survey was used to assess the psychological state of these students. There were significant differences in somatization, obsessive–compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, phobic anxiety, psychoticism, and global severity index (GSI) between college students with AGA and the controls. Moreover, regarding the impact of specialty, scores for the interpersonal sensitivity, depression, and phobic anxiety in medical students and art students with AGA were significantly higher than other professions. In addition, obsessive–compulsive and GSI in art students with AGA were significantly higher compared with other professions. These findings suggested that the therapeutic approach for the psychological problems should be considered in the tailored treatment for AGA in the college students.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between interleukin-21 (IL-21) and interleukin-21 receptor (IL-21R) polymorphisms and the response to peginterferon alfa (PEG-IFN α) therapy in HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients.A total of 143 HBeAg-positive CHB patients treated for 48 weeks with PEG-IFN α and followed up for 24 weeks post-treatment were retrospectively evaluated. Genotypes analysis was performed for IL-21 polymorphisms rs907715, rs2221903, and IL-21R polymorphisms rs3093301 and rs2285452. Serum IL-21 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.The end of virological response (EVR) rate was 46.9% (67/143) at the end of treatment, the sustained virological response (SVR) rate was 43.4% (62/143) and the complete response (CR) rate was 32.1% (46/143) at 24 weeks post-treatment. Patients who carried IL-21 rs 2221903 genotype AA had a rather higher rate of EVR (response rate: 52.4%, odds ratio [OR] 0.42, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.19-0.91, P = .021), SVR (response rate: 47.6%, OR 0.43, 95% CI: 0.19-0.95, P = .028), and CR (response rate: 38.1%, OR 0.31, 95% CI: 0.12-0.79, P = .014) when compared to those had AG genotype. Obese patients are more likely to encounter with difficult airway management, and supraglottic airway device has been adopted to facilitate tracheal intubation. The optimum anesthetic concentration for obese patients to insert a supraglottic airway device with spontaneous respiration has not been investigated. This study was designed to determine the end-tidal concentration of sevoflurane that would provide acceptable condition for supraglottic airway device insertion with propofol at induction in obese patients without using neuromuscular blockade.Thirty elective obese patients [body mass index (BMI) 30-50 kg/m] scheduled for bariatric surgery were enrolled in this study. Sevoflurane was inhaled at a concentration of 5% after infusion of 1 mg/kg propofol (within 1 minute) according to lean body weight. The target concentration of sevoflurane was initiated at 2.5% with 0.5% as a step size using a modified Dixon up-and-down method. Five minutes after target concentration achieved, the insertion of supraglottic airway device was attempted.The minimum alveolar concentration of sevoflurane for successful insertion of supraglottic airway device calculated using up-and-down method were 2.25 (0.53) % for obese patients. The values of the effective concentration of sevoflurane for successful supraglottic airway device insertion in 50% (EC50) and 95% (EC95) of the obese patients obtained by probit regression analysis were 2.09% (95% confidence interval 1.48-2.68) and 3.31% (95% confidence interval 2.70-8.12), respectively.We conclude that sevoflurane at a minimum alveolar concentration of 2.25% can provide optimal conditions for insertion of supraglottic airway device with spontaneous respiration in obese patients with 1 mg/kg propofol at induction.

Data of individuals diagnosed from 1994 to February 2012 in Wuhan, China were extracted retrospectively from the national HIV surveillance system.
