Pleomorphic giant cell carcinoma (PGCC) is an exceptionally uncommon form of prostate adenocarcinoma. It consists of unusually large and irregular cells with varied nuclei. The present study describes a rare case of prostatic PGCC. A 65-year-old male patient presented to the urology clinic with severe dysuria, nocturia, and frequent, urgent, and difficult urination for a period of 3 months. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large pelvic mass. A prostate biopsy was performed, and immunohistochemical analysis revealed positivity for the pan-epithelial markers, AE1/AE3, alpha-methyl acyl-CoA racemase, and focally for sphingolipid activator protein-2. While waiting for his pathology report, the patient's condition deteriorated, and he was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction. The patient underwent laparotomy and end colostomy. Later, he developed severe sepsis and wound dehiscence. After 2 weeks, the patient succumbed due to multiorgan failure. Prostatic PGCC cases are frequently associated with previous chemo-, hormone, or radiation therapy. Prior to the diagnosis of PGCC, it is critical to rule out urothelial carcinoma. Early recognition of this rare condition can lead to more effective therapy. Prostatic PGCC is extremely rare. Tracheal stenosis is a narrowing of the windpipe that can lead to shortness of breath, stridor and even suffocation. The present study reports the clinical course of a patient with this condition in an aim to help clinicians obtain more information about this rare condition and identify potential treatment options. A 2-year-old female child presented with progressive shortness of breath and stridor. She was initially managed with tracheostomy; however, this was unsuccessful in relieving the stenosis. Subsequent interventions, including rigid bronchoscopy and dilatation were successful in relieving the condition. A benign hypertrophy of the bronchial wall was identified through biopsy. The patient was treated with steroids and antibiotics, and she experienced a marked improvement in symptoms and remained asymptomatic after a 1-year follow-up. Tracheal stenosis is a rare, yet serious condition that may be life-threatening. Tuberculosis of the thyroid gland is rare, and tuberculous granulomatous inflammation of the parathyroid glands is even rarer. The present study reports a rare case of primary hyperparathyroidism caused by tuberculous granulomatous inflammation. A 58-year-old female patient presented with generalized body pain persisting for 1 year. She had a history of recurrent renal stones (>20 times) and an incidental finding of multinodular goiter involving the parathyroid on neck ultrasound. A blood analysis revealed elevated levels of serum calcium (11.26 mg/dl) and parathyroid hormone (154.7 pg/ml). The patient underwent the resection of the affected left thyroid lobe under general anesthesia. A histopathological examination revealed parathyroid adenoma with caseating granulomatous inflammation involving the adenoma with focal lymphocytic thyroiditis of the left thyroid gland. Although granulomatous parathyroid disease with parathyroid adenoma causing hypercalcemia is an extremely rare event, it can occur. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been found to be associated with the development of traumatic neuromas on rare occasions. The present study reports a rare case of post-cholecystectomy biliary tree traumatic neuroma. Herein, a 47-year-old female with a history of laparoscopic cholecystectomy presented with upper abdominal pain and anorexia. Upon an examination, a yellow discoloration of the sclera was observed. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography revealed a dilated proximal bile duct and mild dilatation of the intrahepatic biliary tree due to a stricture. Intraoperatively, a hard bile duct mass was observed with multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the peri-hepatic region. The patient was initially suspected to have bile duct cancer; however, a histopathological analysis of the resected mass revealed a bile duct traumatic neuroma. Biliary traumatic neuromas may be underestimated since they often remain asymptomatic. It is unfortunate that, as traumatic neuromas often lack distinguishing characteristics, no particular radiological findings for traumatic neuromas of the bile duct have been described to date, at least to the best of our knowledge. Subcutaneous metastasis from esophageal cancer (EC), particularly to the chest wall, is a very rare phenomenon. The present study describes a case of gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma that metastasized to the chest wall, invading the fourth anterior rib. A 70-year-old female presented with acute chest pain 4 months after undergoing Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy for gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma. A chest ultrasound revealed a solid hypoechoic mass on the right side of the chest. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the chest revealed a destructive mass on the right anterior fourth rib (7.5x5 cm). Fine needle aspiration revealed a metastatic moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma to the chest wall. Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealed a large FDG avid deposit on the right side of the chest wall. Under general anesthesia, a right-side anterior chest incision was made and the second, third and fourth ribs were resected with overlying soft tissues, including the pectoralis muscle and overlying skin. The histopathological examination confirmed a metastasized gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma to the chest wall. There are two common assumptions regarding chest wall metastasis from EC. The first one states that this metastasis can occur due to the implantation of the carcinoma during tumor resection. The latter supports the notion of tumor cell dissemination along the esophageal lymphatic and hematogenous systems. Chest wall metastasis from EC invading ribs is an extremely rare incident. Aurora rings are prominent endoscopic features of the inverted colonic diverticulum (ICD), and their appearance alongside a colonic lipoma is an unprecedented phenomenon. The present study reports a case of colonic lipoma with Aurora rings, contradicting the assumption that Aurora rings are indicative of ICD. A 52-year-old male patient presented with left-sided abdominal pain for >1 year, associated with constipation in the form of the decreased frequency of bowel motions every 4 to 5 days. A physical examination revealed an obese, protuberant abdomen and a mildly tender left iliac fossa region without other notable findings. A transabdominal ultrasonography revealed a thickening of the large bowel wall (<7 mm) with a suspected inflammatory lesion on the left side of the colon. During an ileocolonoscopy, multiple diffuse diverticula of various sizes were observed, affecting the entire colonic mucosa. Furthermore, a large (1.5 cm) pedunculated polyp with a thick stalk was found in the sigmoid colon, exhibiting positive Aurora rings. A polypectomy was conducted with the deployment of two hemoclips at the polyp base to prevent perforation. The histopathological examination of the specimen, a 1.3 cm polyp, revealed the presence of a colonic lipoma, rather than an ICD. The identification of Aurora rings has emerged as a significant endoscopic feature in the diagnosis of ICD; nevertheless, the underlying etiology of these rings remains elusive. Based on an extensive search of the literature, no study was found mentioning the appearance of Aurora rings in an endoscopic screening of other colonic conditions other than ICD. Synovial sarcoma is a mesenchymal spindle cell tumor. Primary pancreatic sarcomas are extremely rare. The present study describes a rare case of synovial sarcoma in the head of the pancreas. A 35-year-old male presented with left upper quadrant abdominal pain. An endoscopic ultrasound examination revealed a complex solid-cystic lesion in the pancreatic head. He had undergone pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure). A histological examination yielded negative results for AE1/AE3, CD10, S100, CD34, desmin, smooth muscle actin, β-catenin, CD117, HMB45, chromogranin and synaptophysin. However, the results were positive for TLEI and vimentin, which is consistent with synovial sarcoma. Synovial sarcoma is a soft tissue malignant tumor. Primary pancreatic sarcomas frequently present as large, high-grade tumors in the pancreatic head. Histologically, there are several types of synovial sarcoma, such as monophasic, biphasic and poorly differentiated. A histological examination is necessary for the diagnosis as the imaging findings are not specifically suggestive of synovial sarcoma. The preferred course of treatment is complete resection with wide margins, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. Primary mesenchymal tumors of the pancreas are extremely uncommon. As a result, a diagnosis requires careful evaluation. Pseudo-Wellens syndrome refers to any electrocardiogram (ECG) pattern that mimics Wellens syndrome with no critical left anterior descending (LAD) artery-associated coronary artery disease. The present study describes a rare case of pseudo-Wellens syndrome associated with pulmonary embolism. A female patient presented with chest tightness for 72 h. The precordial examination and heart sounds were normal. A mild bilateral lower pitting leg edema with a superficial varicose vein was observed. The levels of C-reactive protein (98.80 mg/l) and D-dimer (7599.9 ng/ml) were abnormal. An electrocardiogram presented a biphasic inversion of the T-wave in precordial leads in the pain-free interval. Coronary angiography did not reveal any notable findings. A computed tomography pulmonary angiography demonstrated an acute pulmonary embolism. The patient received unfractionated heparin (20,000 IU) by intravenous infusion. She was discharged on rivaroxaban (15 mg) twice daily for 21 days. The inverted T-wave specificity, sensitivity and positive predictive values for LAD stenosis are 89, 69 and 86% respectively. This indicates that ECG alternations with the properties of Wellens syndrome do not always guarantee its occurrence, and in the presence of a normal coronary artery, the condition may be pseudo-Wellens syndrome. Based on the literature, there are only three reports available to date on synchronous Kaposi sarcoma (KS) and renal cell carcinoma (RCC), at least to the best of our knowledge. The present study reports a rare case of synchronous classic KS and clear cell RCC. A 69-year-old male presented with painful, purplish nodular lesions on the dorsal aspect of his hands and feet. He had no chronic medical illnesses or prior surgical interventions. An excisional biopsy of one of the lesions revealed a nodular dermal lesion with numerous vascular channels and interlacing spindle cells. A 2.5 cm-enhancing mass was found in a contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen, suggesting RCC or metastasis. A partial nephrectomy was performed, and the histopathological findings were consistent with clear cell RCC. The patient responded well to paclitaxel and topical imiquimod (5%), and the skin lesions disappeared. Both KS and RCC are vascular tumors, and their pathogenesis is commonly affected by an angiogenic factor known as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). A complete response of KS was observed after sorafenib, an inhibitor of VEGF receptors, was administered for the treatment of metastatic renal cancer. This reinforces the fact that there is a common therapeutic and pathogenetic pathway between these two neoplasms. Synchronous KS and clear cell RCC are rare findings. De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQT) is a painful stenosing tenosynovitis of the first dorsal compartment of the wrist, which may be refractory to conservative treatments. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound (US)-guided platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for the management of DQT. For this purpose, from January, 2020 to February, 2021, 12 patients with DQT who received the US-guided PRP injection were studied prospectively. All patients were evaluated clinically for pain intensity using the visual analog scale and sonographically prior to treatment. The patients were followed-up at 1 and 3 months after the procedure to evaluate the efficacy of the treatment. In total, 12 hands of 12 female patients with DQT were analyzed in the present study. The post-treatment clinical evaluation revealed complete recovery in 4 (33.3%) of the patients, and 6 (50%) of them had recovered and returned to their daily activities. The sonographic evaluation revealed a significant reduction in the mean retinaculum thickness from 1.84 to 1.069 mm, and mean tendon sheath effusion from 2.06 to 1.25 mm, with only 58% of the cases having tendon sheath effusion at 3 months post-treatment. On the whole, the findings of the present study demonstrate that US-guided PRP injection with needle tenotomy can be used as an alternative non-surgical therapy for patients who do not respond to conventional conservative treatments, particularly in cases with sub-compartmentalization. The Bentall procedure is a surgical technique used in the management of aortic root abnormalities with ascending aorta and aortic valve issues. The present study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of 18 patients treated with the Bentall procedure in a single center. The present study was a single-center retrospective case series conducted over a period of 3 years. The patients had either acute ascending dissection and/or dilated ascending aorta with aortic valve dysfunction. The Bentall procedure was performed via standard median sternotomy. St. Jude Medical composite grafts with a valve were applied in all cases. A total number of 18 patients with either acute ascending dissection and/or dilated ascending aorta with aortic valve dysfunction were included in the study. The age of the participants ranged from 27-60 years. The ratio of males to females was 16:2 (males, 88.8%). The symptoms developed 3-4 days prior to hospital admission. Chest pain was the most common presenting symptom (n=10, 55.5%). Hypertension was the most common risk factor (n=12, 66.6%). In total, 14 cases underwent emergency surgery (77.7%). The emergency surgery was performed in 9 patients within 24 h of arrival owing to the association of aortic root dissection with tamponade. For the other cases, the surgery was performed within 2 and 7 days (n=5, 27.7% and n=4, 22.2%) respectively. Early post-operative complications occurred in 5 patients (27.7%). On the whole, as demonstrated herein, the modifications of the Bentall procedure have a notable impact on decreasing the overall mortality rates. There are controversies regarding the normal size of the adult spleen and its correlation with age, sex and body parameters. The present study aimed to establish a reference value of splenic dimensions, volume and their correlations with different body parameters. The present cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 healthy adult volunteers of both sexes. Age, sex, height, weight and body mass index (BMI) were recorded. The ultrasound measurements of spleen parameters included length, thickness and width. The spleen volume was calculated using the standard prolate ellipsoid formula (length x thickness x width x0.523). The mean ± SD age was 38.7±14 years, the mean height was 166±9.9 cm, the mean weight was 74.7±15.8 kg and the mean BMI was 27±5 kg/m 2 . The mean spleen length, thickness, width and volume were 10.68±1.28 cm, 4.1±0.58 cm, 7.3±0.9 cm and 174.4±52.4 ml, respectively. Males had larger spleen parameters than females. Spleen volume significantly correlated with the subjects' height (r=0.655, P<0.001) and weight (r=0.643, P<0.001). However, weaker correlations were detected between age (r=-0.238, P<0.001) and BMI (r=0.299, P<0.001) with spleen volume. A higher significant correlation was found between spleen volume and spleen length rather than with its thickness and width.
