Historically, the bodies responsible for designing the curricula in our country have included the English discipline in them and have conceived graduate profiles covering elements that require knowing this language. They have invested in the training of teachers, the reproduction of materials, methods designed abroad by native English-speaking specialists, and some sound reproduction equipment in line with the economic resources of the country. More recently, various Cuban authors specialized in English language have been asked to design the basic materials used to teach the courses in the program. The efforts made over the years have yielded some results, although they could be qualitatively superior. This paper presents a reflection on some elements that still hamper the achievement of better results.

Históricamente, en nuestro país, los organismos relacionados con el diseño de los planes de estudio han incluido la disciplina Inglés como parte de estos y han concebido en los perfiles de salida elementos que necesitan del conocimiento del idioma para ser cumplidos. Se ha invertido en la formación de profesores, en la reproducción de materiales, en la compra de métodos diseñados en el exterior por especialistas hablantes nativos de la lengua, en algunos medios de reproducción de sonido en correspondencia con las posibilidades económicas del país; más recientemente, se ha convocado a colectivos de autores cubanos, especialistas en la lengua, para diseñar los materiales básicos con que se imparten los programas. Se ha desplegado un esfuerzo a través de los años y se han logrado algunos resultados, aunque podrían ser cualitativamente superiores. En este trabajo se reflexiona sobre algunos elementos que aún obstaculizan la obtención de mejores resultados.

Today is a fact the creation of new educational scenarios and the incorporation of professionals to the activity of the teaching. The heterogeneity of the formation of those professionals, the varied origin of the students, the inexperience of the directive of the system of health in the educational activity and the distance of the new scenarios of the centers of academic tradition, they are elements that determine the necessity to trace strategies of development educational professional to short, medium and long term. This work has the objective of basing theoretically, the election of the pattern for the identification and the evaluation of necessities of development educational professional, keeping in mind the particularities of our context.

The teaching organizing forms include the conference, the seminar, and the practique lesson. In this moment we are concerned about the practique lesson and specifically of the english language as a means for the dealing with the content through the use of the infered resources accountable to the professional development.

The learning process at present must happen with a high responsibility in the students themselves accompanied by the technological support of information and communication. In this process, professors are facilitators for the students to obtain knowledge. This organizing flexibility is particularly important in the municipalización process, (i.e. to take the university studies to all the municipalities in our country), where profound changes are taken place no only in the educational scenario but also in the formation of the educational staff and its posterior development require further changes in its conceptions. An analysis of each context is imposed in this panorama in order to outline strategies which permit the optimum usage of the resources that are available in our health areas.
