Textbooks are by no means ideological. This means that they present their dominant values and culture in the foreign-language education. In other words; textbooks can change thoughts of learners of the target language. The study is limited to the Iraqi ESL textbooks (English for Iraq) for sixth preparatory stage. This paper tries to examine the discourse of these textbooks critically. The aim of the current paper is to investigate the national identity of the publishing house in the Iraqi textbooks. In order to reveal the national identity embedded in them, the study draws on a corpus-based analysis. This study found the frequency of referring to nation identity of England more than other countries throughout the whole books. The study concluded that the English publishing house uses the national identity of England in the investigated data for ideological purposes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often co-occurs with gastrointestinal (GI) dysfunction, suggesting gut microbiota involvement. current study, the first in Iraq, investigated fecal microbiota in autistic children (n=18, aged 2-9 years) and neurotypical controls (n=27) in Basrah. Culture techniques detected facultative or aerobic bacteria, like E. coli, Enterococcus faecium, Lactococcus garvieae, Enterococcus faecalis,Brevibacillus parabrevis, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Klebsiella pneumonia while Prevotella spp. in ASD were found to be lower by RTqPCR. Which was statistical insignificance. These preliminary results point to possible changes in gut flora in Iraqi children diagnosed with ASD. Larger sample sizes and further study are required. Ear infections are a common health problem, the most common microorganism which cause of infection is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The study aimed to detection for bacterium ability of virulence factors production, molecular detection on that Exoenzyme effectors. The results of P. aeruginosa is the most type at18.62%. This bacterium was had a high level of resistance to the Ticarcillin antibiotic at 73.69%, were 10% of isolates (MDR), 42% (XDR) and 5% (PDR), production was each of the biofilm at 89.47%, protease enzyme at 79.94%, and Metallo betalactamase at 47.36%. This paper is an attempt to analyze and measure the demand function for real money in Iraq according to a multivariate time series framework, using Cointegration tests by Johansen’s Approach and the Error Correction Vector Model (VECM), assuming the interdependence between the determinants of money demand as nonstationary variables. This helped to understand the behavior of the demand for money in Iraq for the period (2004-2020), and to reveal the moral effect among the variables included in the system of the Autoregressive Vector(VAR). The estimation of the function of demand in the long run indicates the low speed of adjustment in getting rid of the imbalance. The Empirical results of the research indicated that the exchange rate, government spending and the general level of prices explain most of the changes in the demand for money in the long run. In the short term, only the exchange rate had a significant effect on the function of demand for money in Iraq, but the rest of the other variables failed to explain the behavior of this function during the short period. This study aims to determine the capacity of surface soils, the loading layers of engineered structures with shallow foundations, to swell. For this, five samples were collected using a hand auger at a depth of 1.5–2 meters in the city of Al-Faw in Basra, Iraq. The swelling potential of the soils in the research area was calculated using the clay content, liquid limit, plasticity index, and shrinkage limit values, and the constituent minerals were identified using X-ray diffraction. According to the results of the Atterberg’s limit tests, the soil samples taken from the city of Al-Faw fall into one of three categories: clayey silt low plasticity (ML), clay high plasticity (CH), or silty clay low plasticity (CL). The liquid limit in soil samples ranges between 34-55%, and the plasticity index values range between 12 and 28%. Three samples are of medium swelling potential, while the third location has high swelling potential and the second location has low swelling potential, and the X-ray diffraction data demonstrate that Montmorillonite is the main dominant clay mineral, accounting for an average of 31.88%, followed by Kaolinite mineral, which accounts for an average of 28.984%, Illite, which accounts for an average of 19.5702%, Chlorite, which accounts for an average of 12.1864%, and Palegorskite, which accounts for an average of 7.3688%. The aim of this present study is to classify and map the landscape of Zawita, Iraq. Different classification methods of the slope characteristics were considered such as slope degree, slope arching, slope direction, slope direction, hills shade, young classification, Demek classification. Digital Elevation Model was downloaded from USGS (2022) and applied as input data to classify and analyze the slope. The finding out that the area is identified as an elevated area. The elevation of the area is ranged between 520-1500 meters above sea level, which indicate the intensity and effectiveness of the alpine movements. Among analyzing the maps, the area is considered as arisky and sensitive to geomorphological hazards which made the area unstable. Most of the slopes of the study area is ranged from 2-34.9 degrees and this different degree of slopes is a consequent risk of high erosion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research draws critical attention to the translation of The Waiting List, a novel by Iraqi writer, poet, and novelist Daizy AlAmir. It shows how Parmenter renders Al-Amir’s feminist voice into English preserving the poetic style, metaphorical language, and emotive language of her text. The title itself suggests the central theme of this novel – women’s alienation. It explores diverse ways in which the female characters experience alienation, be it from their families, communities, or even from themselves. This theme is particularly poignant given the historical and social context of Iraq, where women often face marginalization and oppression. Moreover, this study explores how much of the original work survives Parmenter’s translation concerning the notion of cultural loss in translation. Translating voices, such as Al-Amir’s, is important because it provide readers around the world with access to a culturally specific feminist perspective that may otherwise go unheard of due to language and geographical barriers. Feminist translation approaches seek to challenge patriarchal power dynamics, promote gender equality through language, and ensure accurate translations with consideration for cultural context.
